WOOOOOOW.Okay, first- I have zero affiliation with the author and bought this at the recommendation of Amanda Haas, (jedimanda) a cosplayer I’ve respected for years.I’ve only worked with EVA foam sparingly and often felt intimidated to jump on in because… there’s just so much to learn. So when Amanda recommended this I bought in immediately, knowing nothing I was sure it’d have at least some helpful info.IT HAS ALL THE HELPFUL INFO.I can’t put it down.Beverly starts you off with great intros into all the types of foam, tools, safety precautions, detailed tables, beautiful photos with examples… it’s everything I could possibly need.Then she takes you on detailed journey through tons of different techniques, problem solving, painting, texturing, patterning… everything I’ve thought in the past about “I wonder what’s the best way to XYZ”, there’s a few different techniques with the different pros and cons of each and how to decide what materials and techniques to use… She walks you through it all.Such a game changer. This book is not joking when it says it is a COMPLETE guide to foamworking in cosplay — it is chock full with useful information, and it’s presented in a way that is easy to understand and digest. I’m an experienced maker and although I think this book is absolutely perfect for beginners, even advanced builders have things they can learn from it. I also just appreciate the quality of the book — the book feels solid, the finish of the pages is nice, the colors are well printed, and the sheer number of helpful, beautiful photos is so satisfying! 10/10, incredible!
