KEENKLE Compatible Label Tape Replacement for Dymo D1 45013 S0720530. Label Tapes 12mm x 7m Black on White, 5 pack.I was given a Dymo Label Manager PnP for Christmas a year ago. It's a great machine and printed clear black on white labels. I was so taken with this machine, I printed lots of labels for many items... and then the tape ran out.I could not believe the price for ONE replacement tape from Dymo...£18.60 inc carriage !!! Yes I appreciate this was perhaps not the most economic way to buy tapes but even to get carriage free I had to spend over £49. The bare price for one tape was just over £13.00. I looked elsewhere and came across “compatible” replacement tapes however they refused to work in the machine. They were returned. I though perhaps I had to use Dymo's own tapes ?I then tried another set of compatible tapes and they worked and so proved that the machine does not only run on Dymo's own tapes.Here I had the opportunity to test a set of compatible tapes from Keenkle to fit my machine – Dymo ref: 45013 to print black on white. Same size – 12mm x 7metres. The main thing to try (for me) was to see if the machine accepted the tapes and printed labels similar to those from Dymo's own.I am pleased to report there was no problem.These Keenkle tapes come in a 5 tape pack for £11.99 – that's £2.40 per tape compared with £13.22 per tape for Dymo's own. It's a no brain-er ! Yes perhaps Dymo's tapes are a better quality but I ask whether we need that for domestic use ? They seem not to have realised that yet.The Keenkle tapes each come individually wrapped and sealed and in a plain white box. I wondered whether this pack was just for the “free to test” tapes for the Vine programme ? Not that the retail packaging matters that much...at this price, they can send them in a bag providing they work. Perhaps when I reorder, I will see if there is a full retail pack as shown. One strange thing is that the box has a sticker which says “Expiry Date 28/12/23”. Not sure what actually expires but if it is the tape, that might account for the price difference – only time will tell.So, a compatible replacement tape for Dymo's 45013, in a pack of 5 that work for a price of £11.99....that'll do !

Other than those from Brother, there is an almost endless list of brands offering tapes that are compatible with their P-Touch labellers; of the sizes that range from 3mm to 24 mm wide, 12 mm is the most commonly used and that fitting most models; many limit the sizes accepted to no more than 3 or 4.These "KEENKLE TZe-231 Compatible Label Tape Replacement for Brother TZe231 TZe Tape 12mm x 8m Black on White Aze Laminated White Tape Compatible for Brother P Touch PT H110 H105 H100R 1000 1005, 5-Pack" generously offer 8 metres of tape per cassette while Brother limit themselves to 7m! Collectively, the pack is priced at about the same level as a single from Brother. As with other labels, the brand is otherwise unknown.These are best applied to hard, smooth non-absorbent surfaces including most plastics, metal, ceramics and glass while painted or varnished wood can sometimes work. Adhesion is semi-permanent and labels can be fairly easily and cleanly removed in most instances although residues are possible over time. Adhesion to untreated wood, paper, card and polystyrene is weak and the labels are not best suited for addressing etc.Tapes were obtained from multiple brands in various widths and colours, not all of which were available from Brother at that time. Compatibility is 100% with no issues to date. In a few instances, individual tapes use a brighter tape base and the printed characters are darker than OEM tapes with increased visual contrast and legibility. Experience with a very few compatible tapes prompted their more extensive use and a wider range of brands.While there are those who choose OEM in the fear that their guarantee may otherwise be invalidated, there is little to fear. The savings achievable are such that, in the event of a machine failure and a refusal to repair or replace under guarantee, the cost of a replacement could be easily covered.

Who doesn't love a label maker? I know I do, I find it great for labeling things like albums, folders, boxes you name it. So much nice and neater than scrawling on a label or even on the object itself. However there is usually one drawback to label makers, the cost of the tapes if you buy manufacturer originals.So, I do like to try alternatives when some come along, most are at least decent and I've never had any issues with 3rd party ones damaging machines despite manufacturers scare warnings of such things.This is the latest version I've tried and I can honestly say that these tapes perform as good as the originals and that you would be hard pushed to tell the difference. They are packaged similarly to the originals and fit into the machine perfectly, no issues with tightness or anything else detrimental.Print speed/quality is all but identical to that I get with an original tape, the only difference I can find is that the tapes may actually be longer than the original manufacturer ones.Bearing in mind the price difference I can only recommend these tapes without reservation.
