As the other reviewer noted, you need to take off the old pulley from your old alternator and put it on the new alternator. The serpentine belt is too short to accommodate the larger pulley. I guess you could search for a slightly longer serpentine belt but that seemed much more problematic.For those unfamiliar with this process you will need your favorite impact driver (ridgid, ryobi, kobalt, etc) and a 24mm socket. It will come off with barely holding the pulley. There is no reason to get an alternator pulley remover toolkit. Nor will you be successful with just a socket wrench.You should also expect to take the THREE parts from the old alternator (spacer, pulley and nut) and replace it with the new pulley that has the spacer embedded and its nut and washer. (See picture attached).Additionally, you will have to pry out the old alternator with a screwdriver and painstakingly wiggle in the new one. It will fit, but a bit of a pain to get it in. It’s a very tight fit.So this extra pulley work means this is not a straight replacement for 3884950. Hence I deducted a star. But this can be overcome. In fairness I suspect, from pictures I see for other non Volvo penta alternators, they all require a pulley replacement.So if I had to do it again I would purchase this alternator.

Everything was great, except the pulley was the wrong size. I swapped to the old pulley. This is why I took away 1 star.

After calling my local boat dealer to buy an alternator and found out their price was over $400 I decided to go to Amazon.....Found a brand new one for less than $200. It arrived in less than a week. Great price and product.
