AVERYHeavy Duty Badge Holders, 3" x 4", 25 Horizontal ID Badge Holders (74471)

I had to make badges for a work function and our supply room only had the frosted Avery badges with a pin through the back of it. No one wants to stick holes through their clothing, so I bought these at the last minute. They are thick, clear vinyl and look so much better than the flimsy frosted ones. They do NOT come with the perforated paper template to make badges, just the vinyl protectors. But I was able to make my inserts using another Avery 3x4 badge product (the perforated paper that came with their frosted version I didn’t want to use). The one thing I will say is that the vinyl scratches easily. I used lanyards with metal hooks and couldn’t quite get each lanyard through the opening without leaving a small scratch. But it’s nothing that would deter me from purchasing these again. I just don’t have strong enough grip to squeeze the metal hook tightly enough to get it through the hole without touching the vinyl. Great product at a reasonable price!

I didn’t measure my CDC card first before purchasing because I saw the pictures with vaccination cards and read the reviews. My card was actually 3.5x4.5 so slightly too big to go in without trimming, and it definitely goes up to the very top, over the lanyard hole, so you can’t carry it on a lanyard. They look to be good quality and meet the specs, but misleading to say they hold vaccination cards. Not sure if all CDC cards are the same size or not but this didn’t work for mine.

I have been using the Avery 74471 Badge Holders for years. In the past year, they have changed the type of plastic they are making these with and it is very sticky and hard to get open. It is even harder to get badges inserted into the holders. I wish Avery would go back to the plastic they used to use.

The other reviewer on here is mistaken, I believe, on the use of this product. These were designed to hold the Avery printable paper badges that are 4x3 inches (model 5392). There is no way the paper badges are going to fall out unless you are constantly pulling the paper in and out and stretching the plastic.These are made fairly well and should hold up, but if you don't take care of them, most likely the little platic part that the lanyard is connected to will rip as some point. I haven't had this happen, and I have made close to a hundred of these badges. I kinda wish that the plastic was a little more see-through as the opacity of the plastic does cloud up the printed badge slightly, but if they weren't this type of plastic, they would show fingerprints. So I guess there is a trade off.Also, I generally have to print two of each badge so that if the lanyard spins around, you can still see the badge. This isn't a fault of anything, just an FYI.

I read the feedback previously left on this item, and vertical model, and decided to still buy them.No regrets.They look high end.They are very sturdy - we used lanyards and tossed them in suitcases for a flight, and didn't rip one.They are perfectly see through, not sure how small the font was in the earlier user's case, but ours looked good and were easy to read.They are a good size, so you can fit a lot of text, images, stuff on the bottom, stuff on the top, etc. If you feel uncomfortable when you are at a conference/event and you don't know or forgot an attendee's name, there's space to use really big font so that awkward moment lasts half a second and then you are able to quickly read the name and move on to effective communicating.They arrived in 2 days (with Prime).So overall, would buy again in a heart beat! Great quality.

Uses these for a 4 day Art Camp for kids from 2nd-8th grade. They can get some pretty rugged use but held up well. We are able to use most of them over again the following year. (Unless the kiddos got paint on them!) Names on front and their schedules on the back side worked out well. Good visibility and plenty of room for the information. These could not be opened once the lanyard was on, where prior ones we could slide things in after the lanyard was on.. We were ok with that as no lost information and nothing added that didn't need to be in it.

Quality and Quantity for the least amount of $$. I keep them in my purse to give to family, friends and some strangers that admire mine attached to my volunteer hospital badge.
