Wooden Spindle Bird Feeder (Large)

I really don't feel this feeder costs too much. If you pay by the pound, you've got a real bargain. It is very heavy and well made! It's winter in Michigan so I will put a finish on it and have it ready for spring. Just have to find the right product since some finishes are toxic to birds. This one is much more esthetically appealing than my old one that has been in service probably 15-20 yrs. and I know my son paid at least $100 for it back then.

Very sturdy. Packaged well. Came with some small cracks on the top strip pieces of the roof. Fixed with glue. Painted and sealed.

Very sturdy but has very rough finish needs sanding. Disappointed with the craftsmanship.

This is an extremely well built, heavy wood and very pretty wood. Slight issue with cylinder not fitting over inside piece but easily fixed. Water proofed it and should last for a very long time. They even predrill the side pieces for the 4" wood poIe. I have seen other Amish feeders but they want $70 to ship. This one had about 20# of shredded plastic and shrink wrapped to have it delivered safe.

First of all, the feeder is unfinished. It will need to be painted or have polyurethane applied before it can be put outside.Secondly, a piece of the roof is off and will need to be glued. I doubt if this will hold up well. I would not order this again.

We got this for our backyard. There is a great variety of birds in our area that feed from this unit and the empty it every couple of days despite its larger capacity. We added an extra coat of stain to ours, just to give it a little more protection. Several months later it is holding up well. We will see what the winter in VA brings.

Good quality, but exact same feeder on eBay. Way cheaper. Should have looked around.

This feeder isn't finished as it comes for it is just plain wood, so I stained the roof and base then painted the spindles. It turned out beautiful using a Cedar colored stain for the roof and base, then used a hunter green oil paint for the spindles. Sprayed it with a clear waterproofing sealer - it is SO-SO beautiful and matches perfectly to the siding and trim on my house! Sorry my camera mucks up my photos. This is really beautiful.
