It's not a true softbox and won't soften the light like one, but for the price you're getting a whole lot of value here.I generally use this on an off-camera flash or when traveling, stick it in my bag for my on-camera flash. It's incredibly lightweight but built tough, and folds FLAT (one of the questions I had before purchasing it. Thanks Amazon community for the answers!)The spines are stiff but do well to hold the periphery of the illuminating area static. I found the middle of the road 9x7" size to be perfect for a packable solution. It's not too small causing the light to not soften enough, and not large enough to cause undue bulkiness while shooting. It also cuts down on top-heavy weight on the camera.The attachment is velcro and before you poo poo it, let me just say it's felt as secure and feels completely sturdy as anything else I've tried on the flash's head. There's even a little fabric flap inside that acts as another diffuser before light even hits the main diffusion area. It also prevents the softbox from sliding up into the softbox so it has a purpose other than some gimmicky little extra piece. It can be a little fiddly, but attaches to the interior portion of the softbox and can stay out of the way if you don't wish to use it. Versatile, I like that. It's a little easier to use than the Gary Fong solution, plus it's a more direct light and doesn't lose as many stop of light saving some battery life in the process. I actually prefer using it more than the GF lately.Works great on Yongnuo 560iv's, Canon 600ex ii's and probably comparable Nikon flashes.Again, you're not going to get a super duper soft light out of these but for how compact and lightweight they are, you'd be foolish not to pack it in just in case!

Yes, it's a little floppy once attached to a flash head, so it requires constant tugging to try to keep it reasonably shaped. It doesn't bend down too far, but it's still looks like it could use a little more reinforcement. It folds completely flat, which is probably why it's somewhat floppy. Diffusion is definitely good, especially when I use a diffuser attachment on the flash head before I even mount the soft-box. It's lightweight, very portable, and effective. I'm satisfied with it.

In the past I've found using an off-camera flash with macro beneficial but physically clumsy and the light inadequately diffuse. The Altura softbox combined with a MFT camera and an inexpensive handheld frame beautifully solved both problems. The system is shown in the first attached photo. The second two photos are handheld shots taken today under a dim, gray winter sky using the Altura softbox. This is a well made tool that does what it should at a very reasonable price. Mounted easily on my flash and I've had no problems with it coming off. Excellent product and I highly recommend it!

My first flash diffuser and very satisfied with it. My portrait pictures look professional. Quick and easy to use and folds flat for storage. Fits neatly in my camera case. The price was right for me.

For the price, it does a good job. It is well constructed, attaches quickly and easily to the flash, and provides pretty good diffusion. It doesn't provide perfect diffusion, but it's no worse than most and better than some of the dozen or so other diffusers I have. There are hot spots and dead zones on the front surface, suggesting that the internal diffuser and reflective interior don't bounce and mix the light as well as I might have hoped. You'd need to add additional diffusion material in front (loosely hung tracing or tissue paper works) if you want even light for extreme close-up or macro work, but it does a stellar job at arm's length or longer distances for portraiture or fill, on-the-go or in the field.

Very compact so easy to transport, does the job and adapt easily to the flash. No problems with the transaction. All good.

This unit is ideal for portrait photography as you can get close and not dazzle the subject. The light output is soft and reduces shadows. Very easy and quick to assemble and fits most flashes. I found it great to take photos of my two year old grandchild and the light balance was near perfect. Very good value for money in my opinion.
