Ray Winstone (Edge of Darkness, Sexy Beast) and Parminder Nagra (ER, Bend It Like Beckham) star in this dark story of desire and lust, loosely based on the 17th Century tale, The Changeling, by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley.Shocked when her father (a British/Indian businessman) announces that he has arranged a marriage for her and desperate to escape this unwanted fate, Anjika (Parminder Nagra) accepts an offer from the family chauffeur (Winstone) to "fix it" in exchange for spending a night with him. That fateful night spawns secrets, sexual obsession, jealousy and lies that lead to deadly consequences.

this is REALLY quite good
love Love LOVE Ray Winstone and altho for some reason the editing and filming is sorta off and the plot is highly unlikely the story is intriguing and keeps you wanting more. All the way thru I kept wondering who was directing this so oddly but by the end I didn't care because it was all quite entertaining.

While I enjoyed it, the plot seemed to be driven by the need to get to a particular ending. The acting, though, was commendabl.

I actually bought this DVD after seeing pic's of Ray Winstone Shirtless in this movie. Then of course when I heard it was an erotic thriller I was like, Heck yea sign me up! So if your a bear lover like me then this is a must see. There plenty of shirtless and erotic sex scene of Ray Winstone for your Spank Bank!!!No full frontal sadly. Been Awhile since I watched it tho can't say I remember any butt shots either. But more than enough skin will be shown!

Interesting, But So-So
"Compulsion" isn't a great movie, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I think it was a TV movie in the UK. Still, it was interesting, and I love Parminder Nagra. I did find it funny that she's playing a character who's about ten years her junior, but it works.Basically it's about a young woman, Anjika, fresh out of college, whose father arranges a marriage for her. She already has a boyfriend whom she loves, but daddy dearest is firm. That's where the chauffeur comes in, played by Ray Winstone (who vaguely reminds me of James Gandolfini). He's obsessed with Anjika and willing to do anything for her. In exchange for preventing her arranged marriage, he has a condition: one night with her. Okay, so there's a bit of an ick factor at this point. He's a bit older, fat, and unattractive. But this movie is called "Compulsion" and obviously he's not demanding a night of telling ghost stories and eating cookies by the fire. Eventually, Anjika caves, and so begins their affair. It turns into a full-blown affair, which leads to further complications. But I don't want to spoil the plot! The ending, for me, was both twisted and a bit "Wait, what?" I actually liked it, but it's one of those endings that you either hate or you love. The only problem I had with it is that it left a question unanswered. What I liked about this movie was the casting, the plot, and the ending, just to name a few key points. What I didn't like so much? It was a little predictable, and the sex scenes aren't pleasant to watch. But I suppose they're not meant to be.Overall, it's a good movie, a rather gripping watch, and a little bit above average.

Well worth watching
Compulsion is a contemporary adaptation of John Middleton's English Renaissance play, The Changeling. Like Middleton's drama, it is a dark tale of innocence corrupted, of an older servant taking advantage of a young woman in a difficult situation and under the thumb of her father. The parallel with Middleton's tragedy is not exact, but the movie does an excellent job of updating that play to a contemporary setting. The acting is first rate, especially Parminder Nagra, who steals the show, and the drama is gripping. I could watch this again and again, just for the acting. Bravo.

Brilliant DVD - a must see!
I first saw this film on ITV1, even though it was shown on Channel4 cuz it is a Channel4 dvd. It is a really good DVD and you keep wanting to watch it, it gets you hooked and then you want to see it again! One thing that got me a tad confused was that Anjika and Flowers have an affiar...at first she doesn't want too then she does then right at the end she calls him a fat old ugly man and says she hates him!!!!! Even though in the film it shows you that she likes him and keeps sleeping with him. It changed like 3 times! CONFUSING When you see it, you will see what I mean, so go ahead and buy it! You won't regret it, I thought the price was about right to be honest. Cheers AMAZON for a brilliant buy! : ) Happy Days!

Compulsion - Odd but quite riveting!
Very strange piece of casting with these two, but somehow it kept you watching, used to seeing her as an eminent surgeon on ER of course! Ray Winstone does everything well as he sticks pretty much to what he's good at, this is a bit out there, but well worth the time, couldnt quite work out what the real attraction was, but hey its just a film!Worth a night in with a big bag of popcorn, would be suitable for both sexes, my husband kept awake which is a good recommendation on the whole!

Ray Winstone in Compulsion
A superbly written plot. Winstone plays a passionate and credible man. He is so drawn by passion that the woman's life is not only touched but changed forever.
