All our family wants one
Our vehicles are not new. We wanted a mount for our phone that would not obstruct our view and wouln't look silly if we didn't use. We only need our phones for long road trips using google maps. Since using, we've bought a 2nd for other 'old' vehicle. Of course, when extended family heard about a mount that uses the cd player - they wanted the link:).

Better Power Mount Design
I had been a fan of these power mount design for years. After having a third power mount flex bracket break, I gave up on the design. Then I noticed Scosche was offering a new mag power mount. I ordered one and could not be happier. It seems to be much more durable and the mag mount holds my max sized phone very securely. Thanks Scosche!!

A decent enough mount
This is another of thousands of mounts for you car so that you can keep track of Google Maps while on the move. This mount mounts itself to your car through the car's CD/DVD slot. This is great for older cars, but new cars with no CD drive or very thin slots it may not be compatible. In addition. the way the mount holds itself in place is that it has a set of "wings" that open up inside the CD slot to add more tension and create a stronger mount. I am skeptical though as I fear that this could damage the internal read heads of your CD player, if you do plan on eventually using it again. I suggest not to over tighten it to prevent this damage from occurring.Your mount uses neodymium magnets and a metal backplate attached to the phone to mount your phone. The magnets are decent quality, but be careful as if you remove the rubber sleeve around the mount then it may be difficult to reattach.I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with the Otterbox Symmetry case and the magnetic force is strong. Even the biggest of potholes don't knock my phone off the mount. However, you will have to find a way to mount the metal plate to your device. In the box it includes 3M adhesive directly on the metal plate which is nice. However, I am skeptical of practically gluing a metal plate to my $1000 device. You can place the plate between your phone and case (if you have one), but depending on the thickness of said case, the magnetic force holding it up will be reduced. I ended up placing the adhesive on the outside of my case, which saves the phone, but makes using my phone in general a little awkward. The downside to all magnet-based mounting mechanisms is that you are not able to use wireless charging (if your phone supports it), as the metal plate gets in the way of the copper charging coil. This mount is no different. So you will have to decide if this trade-off is worth it. Otherwise I would suggest getting a clamp-based mount.Overall, despite all the general downsides of using magnet-mounting systems, this one is a pretty good implementation of it. Using the CD drive that is normally not used anymore is a good idea, and as long as you are careful you shouldn't damage the CD drive internals. The magnetic connection is strong overall, and it has been serving me well for the past 10 months.

Good idea and built well but weak magnet
This product is built well and is solid. Mounting to unused CD slot is creative and mount stays put. The only issue is that it isn't quite enough magnetic staying power for my smaller phone or my wife's larger phone (pixel and pixel xl). I have a different brand with same concept in my car and have had for years with no issues of my phone sliding off. I was riding with her a few months later and saw her phone fall off. I bought her a second one of these and it is the same issue. Hit a bumpy patch and the phone will slide off. At first, I thought it was just because her phone was bigger, but her bigger phone doesn't fall off of the magnetic mount in my car (different brand with six magnetics vs 4). Went on trip and in her car and my smaller phone falls off of hers if we go over a bumpy road. Our cases are both thin rubber cases with supplied metal pieces inside the case to make attractive to mount. We even tried using two of the supplied metal pieces inside of her case only to find the same performance. Maybe you'll have better luck.I'm repurchasing the apps2car version for her vehicle so that her phone doesn't fall on the floor anymore.

Works OK but electrical connection not solid
I am using this device with a 2015 BMW 2 series BMW.The mount works well enough. The magent is powerful enough to hold my iPhone 13 to the mount plate. The gooseneck can be bent through a wide range of positions and keeps its bent shape well. However, there are a handful of issues. I'm giving the unit 4 stars only since I can't give it 3.5.- The electrical connection with the cigarette lighter barrel is iffy. If pushed down hard and wiggled a bit the charger works fine, but a tiny movement will make it stop- The magnet is mostly strong enough, but mostly is the key word. A big bump will make the phone fall off, as well brushing it with your hand- The adhesive on the metal plate that the magent in the mount attaches to would not stick to my phone case, though when I placed the plate between the phone and the case, so it held in place by pressure of the phone against the case, it worked fine.

best when directly metal to magnet
Overall product is good. The only thing I experienced to dislike about the item is that the magnet is not that strong when you have the metal part either inside your phone case, especially if the case you're using is quite thick. I found that my phone falls whenever my car gets a good shake. The thing also with these magnet type phone holders, unless you invest on a more pricier one, is that you really can't use this in landscape orientation as it will not hold still and fall off because it's unevenly balanced. Mainly because of how you're instructed to where you should apply the metal part on your phone and that's typically where it wont interfere with your Qi Wireless charging, and this item does just that. So I guess it just depends in what type of product you invest in, but these in particular is just plain and simple. I'd say it's overall magnetic hold is average. This is an "Ok" item given that it serves it's purpose to hold your phone. If that's all you're really looking for and you're not really concerned or interested about the orientation of your phone and all that, then this item is for you. But if you're like me that like's to enjoy the full use of things, this ain't it. I instead had the item installed in my wife's car and she loves it's simplicity.. :)

Exactly What I needed
I needed a sturdy magnetic holder for the my phone. Picked up one on Amazon Warehouse discount and its perfect for my needs. Phone holder sits well in the power socket, the magnets are strong enough to hold my Pixel 5, and while the charger is underpowered for a modern phone, it works well for my dashcam.

Amazing product.
Wished the refurbished/used product came with adhesive magnets. Or state that due to the product being used, magnetics are not included.

Lasted less than 3 months
Poor quality lasted less than 3 months. Have had other stuff from this brand and itβs been great but not this one.

Make Sure It's Built To Take on the Big Sized Smartphones
Umm, if one has a smaller mobile phone this would probably work. Scoche is my favourite brand, but my phone is too big.

Works great !!
Definitely easy to install and use. This is a product for people who have round vents and are unable to install other mounts on the vents. The cd player slot is often unused so it is a clever solution. The magnets are strong but if you try to plug a charging able while on the magnets sometimes the phone slides of the holder, other than that very good to use.
