Sewline Tulip Piecing Needles, Size-9, 6-Pack

I’ve used Tulip needles before, but the eye on these are small!

I mostly work with Kona solids and the weave is just tight enough that these needles are a little too large. I can only string along a couple of stitches, whereas I can load pretty much an entire needle length with my slightly thinner needle.That being said, these needles are some of the most pleasurable ones I've ever worked with -- the difference in quality is tangible the instant you take one out of the tube. They are very strong, and I am not afraid of bending them in the least.I've also used them for english paper piecing and that works quite well. I will probably buy the quilter's betweens or applique needles for hand piecing the kona fabrics since those needles are thinner.

Bought these needles because they were described as “large eye,” so I could use them with 35-weight linen thread. The product description says “Used for silk ribbon and yarn embroidery, typing [sic] quilts and candle wicking.” As you can see from the photo, this is completely inaccurate. The needle eye is TINY—barely able to accommodate fine 50-weight mercerized cotton thread. There is no silk ribbon on Earth that could go through that eye. They’re okay needles, but for this super-premium price it’s reasonable to expect accurate product information. If you need a large eye, DO NOT BUY.

I Love these! I got these piecing needles and some Tulip Milliners for hand piecing. I love both, but the piecing needles last longer than the milliners for hand piecing. The hand piecing are easier to thread (I don't need a threader), but I can't thread the milliners without the tulip threader, which I had already.

I am so happy I discovered these hand-piecing needles! They are very sturdy--I haven't had one bend on me yet. And eyes are large enough to thread easily. Really love these Tulip needles!

The needles come beautifully packaged, but are quite difficult to thread due to the tiny eye size.
