Heavy duty. .. a bit heavy for normal soul but I got this shipped to Vietnam tired of time foil shovels with bamboo handles. (not a joke)This shovel is strong enough to dig the compacted clay here in Nam ..it's work bit it gets it done.

This is a lower quality shovel masquerading as a good shovel. All Ames products, including this one, have a pour hole in the underside of the handle. This is very uncomfortable and causes scratching to the hand. I would recommend spending a little more money and getting a shovel that is guaranteed for life like one from Kobalt. I ordered this product and sent it back asking for a return. They sent a second shovel with the same defect. I called the company and was asked to send in a picture by email and would hear back within 3 business days. They did not email back after 2 emails as of 2 weeks after initial email.
