Great product
Well worth the $50. Integrates with home assistant and frigate. Easy to install and image quality is great. I personally use tailscale and everything works fine. The door trim was my issue. It wouldn't sit flush. I snipped the wedge and everything fit. It's wired so no battery life. Easy setup and wifi is not dropped. My wife loves it for Security of our daughter.

Just what I have been looking for.
I love this product. You DO NOT have to pay $9 a month for THEM to keep your video. It records to a 128Gig SD card. Installation is simple. The Kasa app is very nice. You can draw a square where you want the camera to notice activity. It records audio and video when motion is detected. It erases old video when it runs out of memory. If you have to grab video, on iPhone you can screen record so you can grab what you need to your phone, and send to anyone from there, even police, so easy. When I first installed it. It said the SD card was not the right format. The app kind of froze for a while........it was downloading latest firmware. When that was all done, everything worked great. It comes with an external electronic doorbell as you have to disable your current doorbell. The electronic doorbell has 3 volume levels, much louder than the old fashioned bell we had. It has 8 different ringtones. I did have to buy an $80 Netgear WIFI booster as out router is in a room in the back part of the house and the doorbell is at the front door. Even thought my phone shows 5 full bars, the video camera wasn't getting wifi. Once the WIFI booster was "WPS" synced to the router (push the button on each device) it all worked. When you monitor the video feed, you can hear audio from the outside. Using the app, you can use your phone to talk to the person at your front door. The audio is loud and clear. I have 2 KASA wall switches that turn on the lights to the front and rear doors in to the house. I have 2 KASA lights that use the app. You can change color and brightness. I have 4 KASA smart outlets, when Christmas comes, the app turns on all the Christmas lites in the house a the same time. I am in heaven. 1 app for everything with NO MONTHLY FEE. This is working for me. I hope it works for you too. I might buy a cheap small tablet that can be set to monitor the video at the front door all day.

Easy to install and works great
I was looking around for a doorbell camera that was wired and does not have a subscription option. After having a battery doorbell cam, I quickly learned that during the winters the battery life was a lot shorter and found myself constantly charging. I went with Kasa because I have bought a number of their products and found that they are all amazing. Easy to install and of all the products, I think I have only had 1 fail me out of 20. Which says a lot. Let start with the installation. The instructions were very straight forward. The only challenge I ran into was more to do with the placement of the old door bell. With my house, the old doorbell was lower, so I had to think about how I can extend the wire without having exposed wire. The need for extending the wire was mainly to ensure that the person's face would be seen when they ring the bell. This was probably the most time consuming part of the install. Aside from this step, this was the easiest home project. Camera quality: I place a 128gb card in the back of the camera. One fault with the camera is that it can be difficult to take off the camera once it is snapped on. I was concerned with breaking the contacts. I would recommend a good size card to be safe. For the camera quality, overall it is ok. Not the best that I have seen but from the price point it isn't bad at all. I wish that the lens would be a wider lens to capture a broad area rather than such a narrow lens. App: The app is super easy to use, I am a huge fan of how it seamlessly connects with Alexa and my Apple Watch. Overall, the app is user friendly. I like that it seamlessly connects with amazon. This makes it easier to know when someone is at the door because I receive a chime on my watch and through the echo.

This is what I think.
This Kasa camera is the 3rd or 4th camera I have given a try. I had tried both battery operated and hard wired. The idea of having to replace or charge the batteries every few months turned me away from the battery operated cameras. I have an older Condo and had to purchase a new transformer in order to power this Kasa. I almost didn't try it because the doorbell transformer is tucked up inside a small laundry closet and was heck to get access to... and even then I had to do most of the work with my left hand. Anyway, this old dude managed somehow. When I went to hook up the camera the instructions told me to look for a blinking orange light to confirm I was getting power. Well, all I could see was a white circle light and it was not blinking. I contacted customer service and they walked me through the process a couple of times and I still only saw the white circle light. The CS rep finally said something to the effect of... "You are looking at the small LED light at the top, right?" Well... with my old eyeballs I had never even seen or noticed that itty bitty thing. Once the light was confirmed blinking I was up and running. When I removed my doorbell cover there was a large hole in the wall behind it that was larger than the base of the camera body. I went to Michael's and bought a $2 oval wood piece and painted it. I had to drill holes for the screws and the wires but that part was easy. It has been about a month since installation and I have to give this camera 5 STARS. I'm sure it is not the best one out there... but for $45 it does remarkably well. It makes no sense to me at all to pay for remote storage of 'MY' video. For starters, I think just by having the camera light up when someone approaches is a pretty good deterrent to someone with ulterior motives. I get a notice within 3 seconds if I am on WiFi and maybe 10 or 12 seconds when I am away. This gives plenty of time to speak to someone through the unit... or to use one of the handful of recorded messages. When large trucks or vans go by I usually get a false alert... but I don't find it to be much of a nuisance as I don't live on a major street. The software does allow you to outline the 'active' areas but I have not found that it makes much of a difference. If desired, you have the option to pay a small monthly fee for storage (much less than some others) but you also have the option to insert a Micro SD card, which is what I did. As I understand it, the old video gets replaced to make room for the more recent video. Someone was complaining of this in their review but I find it to be brilliant. If there is a 'serious' event that takes place I can always remove the SD card and copy that file to my computer. But... at least i don't have to remove the SD card every month or so to clear it out for the new data. I haven't had a chance to check out the night visions as our HOA turns all of the porch lights on automatically with a light sensor... but in my case, even with the porch light glaring in, the view is very acceptable. I actually think that this company could give 'R#*G' a run for their money. The quality is pretty great (especially at this price point), the subscription service is much lower... AND they allow you the option for local storage. Who would pay two or three times as much for the other brand... and then have to pay out a substantial amount of money over time in order to have access to your own video?! A bit of software upgrade and I'd give it 5 stars at twice this price... but as it is, I am not sure where I could have found a better value and still have my home 'protected'.

DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. Horrible customer service NO HELP
If I could do ZERO stars I would. It worked great for 1 day. After that it disconnected from the network and has never been able to reconnect. I have reset the device so many times I lost count and still it cannot find the network. It never even pops up as an option for connecting when looking at my network list. Tried connecting using a different phone and still the same problem. Called support and they couldn’t fix the issue so they had me pay for a replacement and then they would refund me that amount when the receive the defective item. I paid for it, then a week later I’m emailed saying it’s out of stock til May and they didn’t even mention refunding me. So I paid DOUBLE (once for original defective product and once for replacement) and STILL NO DEVICE THAT WORKS. I will be reporting them to the BBB. This is horrendous business. I would NOT get this device or any of their products as the customer service is 0 stars and no help.

1 Year in, Detailed review: LOVE it!
I depend on honest detailed reviews when searching. I’ll try to pay it forward here. Bias alert: I have found the Kasa products easy to use and dependable. I have Kasa smart plugs and light bulbs that I bought previously. Made in Vietnam, not China, was a thing for me. First, know what you need and how the device works. I didn't want to pay a monthly fee for stored video or access, this fits the bill (but cloud storage is available if you wish, I don't use). Know that you need a wired/powered doorbell location, or add a plug-in power supply (what I did, 18V 500mA Doorbell Adapter, 10$). It needs a micro SD memory card to store footage in the doorbell. Device connects to your wireless Wi-Fi network. Review: I have 2, one for each door. I bought one to try out and went about 3 months of flawless performance and got the 2nd. I’m in over a year now on both. This device at this price has met my need and satisfaction perfectly. My Mother-in-law has a Ring bell, I see no meaningful difference except Ring requires minimum annual subscription to access data, a few more notification options, and an initial higher cost. -The VID QUALITY is great, can be set to higher or lower resolution depending on how much you want to stretch card memory for recording. On your Kasa app (have iPhone) you can zoom in and pan the picture both live and on recordings. Night vision is nice as well. You can set to full 24 hour record, or just movement incidents. I use 24 hr. record on my 256 MB SD card (max size). I get about 3 months of video (mid resolution) before it fills and starts over recording in a loop. Movement incidents are highlighted on the timeline, and files of Motion events are date stamped. App has photo capture and export features. Phone alert settings for motion detection are nice, but are according to how your phone settings deliver alerts. -MOTION DETECTION/SENSITIVITY takes a little tweaking to adjust settings to balance your desire to be bugged every second, or only if the world is ending. There is a setting where you can create an “activity zone” frame to focus on movement areas and ignore parts of the picture. You can set and size adjust area very specifically. I have a tree in one picture frame, but off to the side, I set the zone to ignore that area. Really limits false alarms on windy nights. Primary trigger is light sensitivity, bright headlights can be alerted as motion at night. It happens very rarely for my home. It also has a setting trigger to “sound detection”, but I have that disabled, didn’t see the need. -COMMUNICATION Audio through the device has a slight delay, (1/2-1 second, maybe) but sound is acceptable both in and out. Just remember it's not an intercom. I have never had a connection problem and in the last year the only time I've been disconnected were power outages, no way around that. They include an outlet plug-in doorbell sounder with a few choices for unique chime. I set each to different sound and pick a door close wall to determine front or back. I have no complaints, knew what I was buying, the purpose, and limitations. Outstanding for the price. The only drawback I see is if you want high security, the card is in the doorbell. Rip it off that wall, and there goes your evidence, unless you have added the cloud storage service. Depending on your handiness I suppose you could make the Bell more secure. Hope this helps you make a great choice.

Provided recording on a SD card is very primitive (2nd update)
The Kasa Smart Doorbell camera is adequate given the cost. If you do not need more than basic camera functions and processing software and just want to see who is outside it will do the job. It is easy to install using your conventional door bell (16-24 VAC) wiring. Do not forget to short the conventional bell chime with the provided jumper wire. The included separate chime paired well and works fine. The device is bulky when compared to other doorbell cameras but I do not consider this a significant drawback. The camera is adequate, but the sensitivity adjustments and activity zone do not work well, and even with ‘motion sensitivity’ 2 (min is 1) and ‘record motion that lasts at least’ 4 sec (max is 5 sec) the software records events for people and passing cars that are at least 8 feet outside the active zone. It even records precipitation events once in a while. In addition, I have another major criticism. I guess, that many people, like me, have bought or consider buying this doorbell camera for the advertised feature of micro SD card slot that can be used to record video and audio on a SD card and keep it all private. No less important for probably all these customers is that they do not want to subscribe and pay to Kasa in order to have access to recording of events. However, it looks almost intentional that the developers of the doorbell camera firmware provide very crude and low quality firmware to use for the SD card recording. For one, there is only one option to record continuously 24/7. There is no option to record the events only, if desired. The 720 resolution is very coarse. The 1024 is acceptable for better look at the persons and the scenery, but the 128GB card I put was filled 100% in about 25 days. In addition, when recording, it is almost impossible to see what happens during an event immediately after it takes place - it shows up as an event in the recording later. On top of that, scrolling the recording has a step of 5 minutes, ie ,xx:05:00, xx:10:00, …. There is absolutely no reason not to provide firmware that can do a better job. I am left with the impression that the CD card recording is provided as a teaser to get customers to subscribe for a paid access to recording and viewing events. 30 March 2023 Update We have been using the Kasa Smart Doorbell Camera (KD110) for 2 months now. It has been working fine so far, but I have new observations about the use of the SD card. The first time it filled up I reformatted it, which deleted everything on the card and started 24/7 recording again. I also reduced the resolution from 1024 to 720, reduced the sensitivity to 1, increase the min motion time to 5 sec and even reduced the active zone a bit more. All these changes did not make much of a difference from what I reported in my original review including using the complete SD storage space (128 GB or more accurately in computer terms the available113GB) in about 25 days. However, when the card got full again I decided not to reformat to see what will happen. The card kept recording 24/7 and marking events to review but every day it lost the data from the oldest recorded day. In other words, it appears that now I have a rolling window of about the last 25 days of recordings. This is much better and I hope this is what the developers had in mind and provided with their firmware. I still find the 5-min steps in viewing continuous recordings unacceptably large. 4 May 2023 2nd Update Here is my latest observations about micro SD card recording storage: = 18 to 25 days starting with an empty SD card or after reformatting depending on the selected resolution: Video Quality 720P, 1k(1080P), 2K(2304x1296). = after the SD card is reported full it continues to record and for 1k resolution: provides access to the last 12 days of events and the 24/7data 2k resolution: last 10 days (this may not be very accurate since I recently switched to 2k)

Who’s there… Kasa!
Love this Kasa doorbell. First tried a Ring and sent it back because the Ring only records when it senses motion. Kasa allows you to record 24/7 with a memory card, look at anything even if it didn’t pick up motion, all at a lower price with no subscription. Easy to install and works with all my other Kasa stuff on the same app. I did have to get a mounting adapter because of the lame location of my doorbell. Highly recommend
