yummy
Made some chicken shawarma the other night on home made flat bread. Was terrific! Marinated chicken in a mixture of 2 cups buttermilk and 3 tablespoons of this spice mix. Drained and patted dry the chicken after 6 hrs in the fridge. I put some thin sliced lemon and chopped cilantro in the marinate as well along with about 1 tsp of salt. After drained and patted dry I put another sprinkling of the seasoning and a touch of salt, put the chicken under the broiler for about 10 min the first side and flipped and broiled another 7. You want the char but don't burn. Rest on the counter for 5 minutes minimum while covered. Slice rather thin against the grain. Have toppings on the side for everyone. I had fetta, sour cream (was out of yogurt), chopped cucumber, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, calamata olives because I had them, and store bought Greek salad dressing. Let everyone put what they want on their schwarma. Flatbread, pile of the spiced schwarma chicken and toppings. I had some Greek seasoning blend and sumac (because I had it around) so that was perfect to sprinkle over the entire thing! Chow down!!! This spice is fantastic! Had some chicken left over so I made a Greek pasta the next night! Yummo!! The reason I started buying ONLY this brand for my spices is the freshness every time.price is perfect and you can buy a smaller package to try the spice flavors before you jump in and get a larger size. This seller is always fantastic as well. I can't recommend this product more!!

You can’t go wrong with this mix!
This was excellent. I only gave it a one for thickness because...well it’s a powder. Powder isn’t supposed to be thick.I have a favorite Shawarma restaurant that I go to in Chicago. Recently I moved to Houston and try as I have, none of the shawarma places have impressed me much. My biggest complaint is that the shawarma just doesn’t taste the same to what I am used to. I decided to make this at home and tried this shawarma mix rather than trying to make my own mix...and boy was I glad I did. This spice mix is 100% spot on to what I am accustomed to getting in Chicago.Tonight I made both Beef and Chicken Shawarma and they both came out moist...juicy even, and the flavor profile was exactly dead on. I couldn’t have imagined it coming out the way that it did. This spice kid is best used as a marinade for chicken beef or lamb shawarma. For this size package, I added 4 tablespoons of white distilled vinegar and 4 tablespoons of water. Mix it well into a paste and then add the meat and coat it well. Cover it and marinate in the fridge for at least 6 hours. This small package was enough to make 3-4 pounds of beef or chicken cut into small thin strips. Sauté it in a pan with the minimal amount of oil...just enough to coat the surface of the pan until all of the juices have evaporated in the pan. I was shocked and how moist it came out, particularly the chicken.

Great spices
When I reordered zaatar the shawarma and sumac were suggested, so I decided to order them too. Both are excellent and add rich new tastes to lots of recipes. I will definitely reordered them. I'm impressed with this company. Their spices are packaged well and I believe they are free of additives or preservatives.

Blend changed still good. Fresh Stuff!
I bought the shawarma blend last year around the same time I bought it this year. I believe it was August. The blend I got last year was amazing. Everything I made with it tasted like out of a very good middle eastern restaurant. It reminds me of a restaurant in LA I believe it was around Glendale. Probably Persian or Armenian. Anyways anytime I grilled with the blend from last years I got compliments. So I went ahead and bought the shawarma blend again this year and around the same time (August). While the blend smells 100% fresh. Really fresh! It’s not the same :( it smells more like Arabic style shawarma blend. What I mean by that is like it’s giving a baharat boost. It’s still good but it’s too similar to the stuff I get from Middle East. Maybe they changed their blend to get closer to Arabic blend. Which is too bad because I loved last years blend that had a modern twist to it.I’m still giving them 5 Stars because how amazingly fresh this stuff is. And how amazing it smells. Just different than last years blend. Which I can understand working with flavor chemistry myself. I’m sure this company don’t have automation which means who ever is making the blend can put one thing little more than they are supposed to and the blend changes. Plus I do understand that ingredients can change from season to season. Please try to bring last years blend back.

Great flavor and high quality!
I love that this blend is salt-free, as I like to add my own kosher salt to taste. I use this to season Impossible plant-based "meat" kabobs and it's delicious! I mixed in 2 tablespoons per pound of "meat" with a little kosher salt. Nice flavor and aroma. No one spice is overpowering, so it's well-balanced. The quality is very good. Highly recommend!

DELICIOUS!!!
Throw some chicken thighs in a crockpot with this and a bit of olive oil, some of this shawarma spice mix and a side of rice, and you’ll have a lovely dinner!
