Great stuff...I purchased this for use in my classes, to help choose words for a concept-driven vocabulary project I give my students. It was reassuring to see many of the words I already use in the book WITH additional information to boot, always written to include the most interesting and relevant associated information available, not the least of which is the etymology: an important aspect of their project. It also helped me to identify and select new words to add that were perfect for the scope and purpose of the project, especially when being able to see the information available.

I don't agree that these are the top 101 words every high school graduate should know.

This book would be fine except that it doesn't include how to pronounce each word. That is mind-boggling to me.

A little fun book to glance from time to time. Well explanation and pointer with assisting in improving the use of vocabularies.

There are many good words in this book, but they aren't practicle words in the everyday language of a high school graduate.

When I first saw the grammar girl series I grabbed a few at once and this is one of the books I grabbed. This book is great and has helped me to understand and use these tips in my daily life and writing.
