My wife has used this product for years. Now they added sugar & other cheap ingredients that changed the flavor badly yet they used the old package on their ad showing the old ingredients knowing it cant be returned because its a food product. We regret buying it

This "five spice" powder is not nearly as aromatic or pleasant taste as any other brand I have used. It was my mistake to order this cheaper version. Unfortunately, I did not notice that this product substitutes much less expensive ground coriander for the Szechuan pepper. Most formulas at least substitute ground white pepper, or ground black pepper, for Szechuan pepper (which is actually NOT a peppercorn).I've decided to just order some real Szechuan "peppercorns" and grind my own Chinese Five Spice blend since I already always have Fennel, Cinnamon, Anise, and Cloves in my spice rack anyway. This fits better with my personal practice of otherwise never buying any other blended spices. This allows me to be sure of the quality of the ingredients. I should have known better. Since I can't return it, I guess this stuff will go on the compost pile.
