Just moved in and got fruit flies. I bought two items, this product and the terro apple thing. Within 3 days the Safer product had caught about 20 fruit flies. The terro product had caught absolutely none. Fruit flies will, of course, go for any food product. They landed on my cat's food. I want to tell you was he ticked off at me. I also sprayed the inside of my trash receptacle. This morning, third day, there were no fruit flies to be seen.

I know how helpful pictures are for believability, so I’ll attach one! Don’t judge me, I had no idea what these were for the first couples of weeks. So yes they overran my house for a bit. But that is no longer! We are now free from the clutches of these nasty little 💩’s. I recently moved to Florida, and never in my life had I experienced so many (what I thought were gnats - I’m still unsure what the hell they actually are 😂). For the life of me I couldn’t figure out where the swarms of these pesky little things were coming from. I am originally from up north, where the only things that resemble them that we get are fruit flies. I couldn’t figure out why they were everywhere when none of my fruit was rotten or even remotely bad. Until I did some googling and found out these little demons are called Drain Flies. They live and breed in your drain, lay eggs and come out in SWARMS. I tried every remedy to kill them off. I cleaned my drains, I poured all kinds of chemicals down there. I googled every which way to kill their eggs, catch them. Tried the whole apple cider vinegar, water and soap trick. Where the apple cider vinegar is supposed to attract them, and the surface tension of the soap is supposed to get them stuck and they sink into the water below….noooope! Nothing worked. I’d still see them flying all over the place in my peripheral vision, and to top it off I now had a nasty little vinegar cup hidden in my corner smelling like dooky. I, like every other rational person, ran to Amazon for a solution. And I found LOTS of them. My first go to was going to be that light and fan thing, where the light attracts them and the fan supposedly sucks them in to their demise. I really didn’t care which one I purchased, as long as it worked. I saw the reviews and pictures of this one and figured I’d give it a go, and if this one didn’t work, I’d try the other one I mentioned. Day 1, the first few hours, it caught absolutely nothing. And I thought “greaaat. This thing isn’t going to catch anything and I’m gong to have to deal with this pests for another few days while I wait on another order” Day 2. I woke up, not expecting to find anything, and lo and behold, there were 10-15 flies on it. My prayers had been answered! Day 3. Not going to lie, I forgot I had it plugged in Day 4. I checked again, and this is what I found. The picture attached. Absolutely gross 🤢. Don’t ask, I have no idea how all these nasty little creatures lived in my sink without my knowledge. I must just be that blissfully unaware. I thought I only had a few…clearly I was wrong I’m on like Day 10 now. I waited awhile because I wanted to make sure it continued to work before posting this review. I haven’t seen another fly / gnat besides in the trap, since Day 4, nearly a week ago. Not one. However, the trap is still lit up, and still as sticky as it was on day 1. There is a faint blue glow, it’s a pretty pleasant. It’s just like a night light. It makes 0 noise whatsoever. It’s SO easy to remove and replace the sticky pad. You pull the stick piece up out of the part that attaches into the wall, and slide a new one in. So simple, yet so effective. If you’ve had these nasty little critters flying around your home for far too long now, try it. You won’t regret it. If it doesn’t work in the first spot you put it, move it around. These things supposedly come out of the drains, yet for some reason it catches far more in my bedroom outside the bathroom. So find what works for you. Also, it turns sideways if need be. So if you have a sideways plug, you can still plug it in and swivel it so it’s face up! I hope this review helps some of you choose this, and rid your life of these nasty little buggers!!

For whatever reason, 2026 has been the year of the gnat. I bought this Safer Insect trap with UV LED light and it's catching the tiny flies all through the night. It can't do much during the day when competing with sunlight coming through the windows, but when everyone has gone to bed this catcher works its magic. It worked so well the first two days that we bought a second one for the upstairs hallway. Everyday they reduce the number of gnats and I'm hoping by autumn we won't even have one left. I also bought the "32 Pack Refill Glue Cards" for $8.99 just to have them ready in the future. This insect trap is worth every penny.

Bought the first one several years ago to use in my travel trailer, then a second one for my home and they both still work. A swarm of gnats/no-see-um’s got inside our travel trailer while we camped near Niagara Falls. The light and sticky pad did exactly as expected. Had it plugged into the bathroom outlet with the door closed to avoid glare while sleeping, but is also sufficient for a night light when grandchildren needed the bathroom in the night. Light can also be rotated to plug in horizontally or vertically, a nice touch for inside a small bathroom. Solid five stars, have recommended it to several people and will buy again if light eventually stops working.

We've tried several of the brands here and advertised on TV, Safer is the most effective and long lived product over 5-6 years. We still have the two original units operating, LEDs dim over time, but these are robust. I've been peeling the new card to cover the "dirty" one when replacing. I go through the house every other weekend to check which needs service. They really came in handy when some bananas caused a fruitfuy invasion that overran our 3k ft³ house. Several in the kitchen, one in each bathroom (vanity drains) and scattered throughout. We were cleared out in a few nights. Having one in the en-suite bath keeps bugs out of the bedroom too!

This plug‑in insect trap is a great little device. It’s super easy to assemble — you just pop in the sticky pad and plug it in. It’s been effective at catching gnats, flies, and no‑see‑ums, which makes it really useful in a Southern climate. I haven’t seen it attract mosquitoes, though, even though we have tons of them here. It seems the light just doesn’t appeal to them the same way. The trap uses sticky pads and gives off a blue illumination, which actually looks pretty cool and adds a nice aesthetic touch. I’ve had several of these, and they typically last about six months before the light stops illuminating, and once the light goes out, it no longer attracts bugs.

My roommate left the door open for an extended period and left food in the kitchen sink drain while I was on vacation, so surprise, surprise-- we got flies. We also got ants, but that's a different story. Well, I plugged two of these in around the home, and they do work. They smell faintly of vinegar (I think?) and there is a low, purple light by the trap. The sticky part was easy to install, and I have yet to need to replace the trap after a few weeks... but that's also a bit of a problem. It did definitely catch some flies, but it is no panacea for your pest problems. I am still swatting at the small flies near the sink and around the apartment-- though there are considerably fewer of them. It does fit the outlet fine as well without blocking extra outlets, which is always nice.

bought this item for our kitchen fruit flies/ sewer flies. set it up immediately yesterday. Very easy to set up. Light acts like a nightlight. After running overnight/ day. A whole 24 hrs later. We are officially bug free. This product definitely works. Should have bought this item sooner.

Tal cual descrito. Yo lo utilizo para mi habitación, lo dejo como luz de noche y las mosquillas ya no me han molestado, yo puedo dormir con esa luz pero quizás sea molesta para gente mas sensible. El pegamento lo he dejado 1 semana y sigue funcionando, claro, lo he cuidado de que no le caiga polvo.
