Bit of a strange book, but interesting
I bought this after reading about the author and her daughter in the newspaper. It's a bit of a strange book in that it darts around all over the place as the author describes all kinds of aspects from her own childhood plus, of course, the long journey to adoption. Interesting, but I kept wanting her to talk more about the post-adoption period which she didn't do in very much depth. Interesting read, though.

Highly recommended
I found this book to be a page-turner, thought provoking, beautifully written, easy to follow and quite apart from the sheer determination of the author’s will to succeed in the adoption process, a joy to follow her journey, as challenging as it clearly was. I adored the author’s references to poetry and music which helped her throughout, it encouraged me to find out more about the extracts she mentioned. The adopted daughter’s own version of events are an important part of the book. Highly recommended.Silke Montague

beautifully written
Lovely to read a book about adoption that is so poetic and has such depth, and beautifully written. Amazing journey to motherhood in the face of such obstacles, and wonderful to hear the voice of the adopted daughter at the end.
