Iris: Mike Bravo Ops

Loved IRIS & SAINT! A perfectly miraculous second-chance thriller...
Thia was a wonderfully sensitive, very introspective telling of two guys reconnecting after many years apart: Saint continued his perfect performance and track record with a special arm of the military; Iris (a moniker instigated, we discover after Saint admits to criticizing him in front of their basic training unit & CO's via internal monologue - his terminology stuck) wasn't successful as enlisted Army, eventually left, & was found (& saved) by Travis West & his company Mike Bravo, where Iris learned he wasn't a failure or useless.Ironically, though Iris doesn't realize who he's saved until after they've saved Brock, or Saint, as Iris had dubbed him mentally, Iris is the one.who discovers Saint's the only one still alive among a group of what he thought were very dead, brutally maimed and killed, military black ops specialists. He carries him out of an enemy building they'd had to rappel down to its roof from a helicopter; on board the chopper, he's surprised just who he's saved, and tells the team he knew Brock from basic training, & they'd been far from friendly.Iris impressed me, even playing the goofball, carefree clown, even at Mike Bravo. There's a huge difference in his mindset, skills & abilities, and his value as a select, valuable team member in Mike Bravo compared to who he was and his value as one among many in the Army. Despite the cruel, bitter experiences of his past with Saint, Iris is determined to not allow that past into their present, which Saint finds himself grateful for. He hasn't adjusted as well to being out and proud as Iris, but admits his past self was an a**hole, and they reach an understanding of sorts, which inadvertently turns into a hookup after both admit to being attracted to the other in the past.Basically, Saint "temporarily" moves in with Iris after he's offered a job with Mike Bravo (his unit "forgot" about him, then didn't bother checking on him once he'd been rescued), but balks at leasing an apartment (he fears losing his job, already having been cut out of his family), so Iris is compelled to help Saint. Yep, I was soooo digging Iris! Plus, he's totally bada** now, muscled but not bulky, strong, extremely fast, and an extraordinary knife and ordinance operative. They get even closer living under the same roof, until they're caught breaking Trav's rule about no hooking up with other team members as they're caught on Trav's earpiece. What saved them was Trav hearing Iris telling Saint he needed to tell Trav they'd gotten very interested and serious in each other - Trav allows it, but tells them he can't allow.them to work the same ops together as a safety precaution.Iris helps Saint acclimate both into his job and their relationship; Iris finds Saint is a totally different man than he was during basic; they fall in love. Yes, they ave sex, but it's not the focus of their story, just an element of their relationship together. They're cute, very sweet together, and their storyline is exciting with twists and side drama that's kinda funny. Five stars, for a great story, fast paced drama, lots of humor and chuckles, and a sweet, meant to be romance between two men who both deserve love, happiness, and each other.

Sweeter than expected
We met Iris in a previous series. He's never serious, always competitive and almost always over the top funny. He's also loyal, dedicated to his team and his job taking out bad guys. When Mike Bravo gets called in on a rescue mission, he doesn't realize it will be to rescue the soldier who made him crazy a decade earlier in Basic Training. Always an out and proud bisexual, while attracted to the cocky Saint, he never thought Saint would return that attraction.Fast forward to ten years later and Iris is instrumental in rescuing the wounded Saint. Saint's recovery is long and excruciating. He's recovering from a multitude of serious wounds that have left him shattered both physically and mentally. Not only did Iris save his life, but as a new team member of Mike Bravo, Iris begins to play a significant role in his mental and emotional recovery as well. Now out of the closet, Saint can't help but revisit his attraction to the cocky and handsome Iris. Too bad he's not allowed to fraternize with his teammates. As their bond strengthens, he begins to think Iris is worth the risk to his heart and livelihood. After undergoing a traumatic experience, Saint exhibits some symptoms of PTSD. Descriptions of panic attacks and emotional stress may be triggers to some readers. You suffer right along with Saint as he tries to regain both his physical and mental health. This theme in the story is dealt with delicately and respectfully. Overall, the real Iris revealed and the interactions between Iris and Saint are sweeter, kinder and more supportive than expected. These are two really strong men resolute in their mission to do good in the world who know the value of finding home with each other.Five stars for this action packed military romance.

Menace
Iris is an absolute menace, but in a good way. He has the best terrible ideas. Poor Saint. He definitely needs the patience of one.

Iris and Saint are delectable
Mike Bravo, Mothereffin Badasses, Private contractors, “Because how else can the military justify a rescue crew for people who technically don’t exist on a mission that never happened?”He got his name in the military, “I require intense supervision” Isaac “Iris” Griffin. “Sometimes I think I shouldn’t be allowed to make any adult decisions and that I really do live up to the Iris name.” “I’m devastatingly fierce, fu**youverymuch. I’m a scary mother***ker.” Saint agrees!!!!Great story, with strong characters. It felt like at times it was trying to be angsty but I just didn’t feel like it was. Their lives were full of action. I loved the training sequence. Not much backstory but what there was really added to the enjoyment of the story. Iris and Saint matured since they met in training ten years ago (thank the stars). A younger Iris, would of been a little bit too much of everything to tolerate.I liked their journey to falling in love. It was very appealing and engaging. I did enjoy this first book in the series.

Absolutely blew me away (no pun intended)
I could wax poetic about this book but I really don't need to because it's amazing! If you're an Eden fan (like myself) then you know of her epic writing skills and incredible books. If you're new to her books and you're stumbling upon this as a first time reader, you can read this as a first book with no confusion.I loved, loved, loved reading more about the Mike Bravo team and it's dynamics. I adored all the characters but Iris and Saint captured my heart in every way. It's always refreshing to read about relationships and sex in an accepting and powerful way. And believe me, there are some pretty HOT scenes in this book. However, it does not detract from the emotional element and I'm not ashamed to say I may have smudged my mascara a little.Eden's books (as well as her ones with saxon) have helped me feel a lot less confused. Its always nice to find yourself represented in books, and as someone who identifies as Demi and Pan (a new realisation for me) its so refreshing to see this kind of representation in books.I don't wanna say much more as I don't want to spoil the plot but please please read this book.I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Very entertaining!
Iris and Saint have history, one neither man looks back on with any great satisfaction, so I don't think I'd class this as enemies to lovers, but they certainly being out a mile-wide competitive streak in each other which sets up the relationship development nicely. These guys are both great characters and the rest of the supporting cast bounce off them really well. I'm looking forward to meeting more page time with all of them. Military romance is totally my jam so having a team of vets from different branches of the armed forces really works for me, and I love the environment Trav is building at Mike Bravo (the origin of that name is hilarious, btw) with the found family vibe and the actively breaking away from the kind of discrimination or toxic masculinity the characters encountered during their earlier careers. This book is funny (so much snark), steamy (phew - *fans self*) and a solid balance ordered romance and gritty ops. 4*

Yes yes yes
I meet Iris in pop stars and I liked him instantly his clowning around always made me chuckle and lighten dark spots. In this you see a different side to him has well, he is still Iris yet can be serious and a softer side to him that saint brings out. Then there is saint always the best but that has put a lot of pressure on him and now due to injury he is struggling. Mike Bravo gives him a place to heal and a!one the way he changes. These to been one a stickler for rules, the other lives to bend and break them, yet together they work.
