Ignore any silly reviews that say 'it doesn't open every time when you wave your hand above the sensor', because it does, they're just being feckless. This has replaced a similar model we bought from Argos for about £35, so at £54 this is substantially more expensive, but not ridiculously expensive. But you can definitely tell the difference in price...better build quality, better functions, better design all round. You pay for quality, and this is what this bin is, British made quality at a good price. Buy it, it's worth it.

This bin is easy to use and to keep it clean after emptying, Its good value. We have used this for around 3 months, the mechanism makes a kind of grinding noise at the inside the bin lid, I assume that the gear/cog has move out of alignment slightly, I may have to try and 3d print a cog to replace it if it gets damaged as the gear mechanism is made of cheap plastic and the cog teeth may break eventually. I still recommend this bin though as there seems to be no smells when in closed position, its so easy to use, emptying and lifting the lid off and removing the bag retainer ring is all you need to do for replacing a bin bag. This bin is easy to clean too.PS I have used this for 11 months now and want to say that the lid has now failed to open properly now after about 10 to 11 months, shame really as it was easy to use and keep the bin/lid clean, now it's not working hardly at all and opens only a centimeter or so. Not really sure what to do with it now having had good use up to this time.Shame it was only to last this long.

The media could not be loaded. Great bin sturdy roomy fits in the corner also great for keeping the younger grandkids entertained lol they don’t leave it alone and love to put their sweaty wrappers in the bin now ,

So I ordered this bin last June, it's 7 months old. Since then the lid mechanism has stopped working twice. The first time I contacted the supplier on Amazon and they suggested removing the batteries overnight to "re-set" the mechanism. I did that, it fixed it for a few days and then it stopped again. The supplier this time replaced the lid. The new lid, only 3-4 months old, has again stopped working and re-setting overnight hasn't worked at all. And yes, I did put in brand new batteries every time. So I am going to "bin" the bin and replace it with a manual bin with a pedal, as this is the second automatic bin that has been unsuccessful. The rest of the bin is absolutely fine, apart from the fact that it is very sensitive, every time I walk past it, the lids open, which is very annoying. I hope the supplier reads this and does something about both issues soon.

Overall a good product, right volume, nice "bad holder at the top but the sensor could be a little better and sensitivity varies between the 2 i have.
