POWERTEC 70108 4 Inch Blast Gate for Dust Collector, Dust Collection Fittings

I used this as a gate from my gerbils cage to their playpen connected with the 4 inch tubing. It works great for this and they love it. I can close the gate when it is time for them to stay in their cage. It is perfect for this purpose.

I used these when I built my HF dust collection system. For any DIYers or woodworkers, having good dust collection is key to keeping the shop clean. There's more expensive brands but these get the job done. I needed the 4 inch for the larger suction and they have worked great. They aren't heavy duty but so far I haven't had any issues.

This gate works well and will see how it lasts over time. Have just installed it and do not have any issues, at this time. Will update the review after a few months usage.

The media could not be loaded. Not flimsy, and does the job. I'd buy again. The gate piece itself isn't a smooth ride up or down; it's a little bumpy. Not a major problem, though. I recommend these. They were cheapest money-wise out of the ones available at time of purchase.

Finally got around to adding this to dust collect. Much easier that bending down to sweep to a dustpan.

The Powertec 2.5" dust collection system #70304 as it does not have a endcap to cap off the end of the 2-1/2 lines. So a good option is to use the Y-Fitting with two blast gates to close out the duct/piping.And If you plan to use it for the above usecase then you'd be required to buy 2# addtional blast gates. as seenI plan to use one of the end to he floor pan to sweep up the shopfloor dust using Powertec 70103 and a short 2-1/2" flex hose

This dust collector clear Y dust collection hose splitter was exactly what I needed. Just know going into it that the flanges on the splitter are the exact same size as 2-1/2" flex dust collector hose, so you have to use a coupler of some sort to connect them. I had some left-over clear rigid tubing that I used to make a connection sleeve and it worked out great.

I put about 8 of these on tools around my shop to connect them to a jet 1300 CFM did collector.On one of them, the plastic had split apart so the sliding gate would just fall out. I super glued it back together and it was ok.Big problem is that over the next 3-4 weeks they would no longer close all the way. I tried removing trapped dust with a tooth pick but it was too much work and not effective. You can see what happens in the picture. I took one apart so I could see exactly what was going on. Dust will get trapped and the gate won't close fully. If the small opening doesn't bother you then it's fine. With as many tools as I have connected to the system, that opening across all of them is equivalent to a fully open gate so it's not viable. I had to replace them all with gates that go both ways so they don't clog.
