Good rod and reel for beginners, no instructions for beginners.
A really good set" a fine Shakespeare rod, really good reel. Line pre-wound on reel, did not say if backing was on the reel (it was). No instructions or information whatsoever included. Other kits have SOMETHING informative included in them. Otherwise this product would have a received a "5" instead of a "4".

Brilliant . ! ! I fish several times a week from April till Octobermainly in Scottish lochs. This kit is light as a feather and castsbeautifully . Perfect balance with line and tapered leader supplied .Connected with a needle knot too ! Yes, you could spend £ 500on a Sage or Hardy outfit but in a blind test I'd bet the self appointedexperts couldn't tell which was the " budget " or " ideal for beginners "kit ! As real fishermen know : if you can't cast properly then it doesn'tmatter how much your rod cost !!

It broke on me after 2 fish right above the handle
Fished with it for a few hrs cought 1 fish loved it jerked on the 2 fish and it snapped right above the handle do not buy
