I have an abnormal disliking for pretty much any bug and was horrified to find out ...
A long story but worth the read if you are in need of knowing you are not alone in sharing your house with these horrific bugs, I have an abnormal disliking for pretty much any bug and was horrified to find out we were possibly infested with (of all things) bed bugs. I can confirm that the cleanliness of one's house has NOTHING to do with getting these horrible creatures. In our case, we found out that my step-son visited some friends some time ago and unknowingly brought some back with him. As is usually the case, we weren't aware they were here until they had spread throughout the house.I quickly learned that they aren't at all intimidated by humans and will feed any time of the day, not just at night. When we first noticed "them" (not knowing what they were), they would crawl on us like a pet, showing no concern that we saw them. It REALLY freaked me out once we found out what they were and, even worse, how hard it was to get rid of them. (I noticed that they seemed to love everyone else's blood more than mine. I am on a high dosage of medication due to physical injuries so I can only hope those that DID bite me died of an overdose - LOL!)My husband found one nest on the bed-skirt between the mattress and the box-spring and "went on a killing spree". We kept checking the area and none had returned but everyone was still getting bitten. He later found that they had nested in both the bed-frame (made of Wrought Iron) as well as the comforter of our King-sized bed! (God only knows how many were there and I really don't WANT to know that information.) We immediately discarded the comforter (and won't likely be using another one for a while). Although I probably over-reacted a bit, the entire bed (frame and all) went out the door and we replaced them with a new mattress and box-spring as well as a new bed frame. We put the protective covers on the new mattress set and have no intention of attaching a head-board or foot-board at this time so as to minimize their ability to nest in the bedding again...then we treated the house and bought the Interceptor traps. Knowing that there would be no chance of the new bedding being contaminated, we waited to see how many got trapped trying to climb into our bed.The interceptors have been a great blessing to me because we have found no bugs trapped in them, meaning there are no bugs climbing into our bed during the night. Although treatment is not a "once and done" process, I now have the peace of mind knowing that no bugs can get on our bed as long as nothing is touching the floor. As I said, I hate bugs and will continue treating for a long time to come but I can sleep better knowing that there are no bed bugs feeding on us while we sleep.

Save yourself some $$$...
...if you can wait for the products to get to you from Amazon, you can do just as good a job defeating bed bugs as the professionals will - probably better, because you have a more personal interest. First of all, never buy pillows or mattresses without buying bed bug-proof pillow and mattress covers from Target (they might be available elsewhere, but I found them at Target). If you don't use these covers and you get bed bugs, your mattresses and pillows are pretty well shot. We didn't and we learned the hard way. When we got bed bugs, we had to throw them in the dumpster and buy news ones. Covers are critical. Don't spend big $$$ on mattresses and pillows without buying protective covers for them. If you do get bed bugs, three products will wipe them out. Put Climbup Insect Interceptors under each bed post. If you have supports under your mattress, put one under each support, too. The Interceptors come in different sizes. Fill the trough of the Interceptors with Diatomaceous Earth. Diatomaceous Earth is harmless to humans, but rips bed bugs and other insects to shreds. Also, make sure your bed is not touching the wall. Sprayaway Bed Bugs is very effective for spraying around your house or apartment. You can use it to spray the perimeter and anywhere else - it doesn't stain or harm walls, woodwork, carpeting, furniture, etc. Once I used these products, it not only killed the bed bugs, it killed the eggs and hatching bed bugs. Bed bugs are masters at hiding, so you have to seek them out. Spray anywhere there are cracks and other hiding places, including any spaces where your bed parts fit together - you might have to take your bed apart to get to these areas. Bed bugs like to hide behind pictures on the wall, too. If there's any space between your bathroom mirror and the wall, they'll hide in there, too, and lay eggs. I sprayed the entire apartment - anywhere there could be bed bugs hiding, then vacuumed everywhere about a week later - especially between the carpet and woodwork. Then I sprayed everything again. That did the job. Bed bugs are nasty. They suck your blood at night and then s*** your blood all over the place. If you see black spots all over your mattress, bed lines, curtains, windows, etc, that's a sure sign you've got bed bugs. I don't have sensitive skin, but my wife does. They left red welts all over her neck and body. We don't know where they came from, but they can come into your place lots of ways - luggage, parcels, groceries, and other stuff that you buy. We live near the bed bug capital of the U.S. - Cincinnati, Ohio. Bed bugs are a big problem in movie theatres, college campuses, stores - you name it. It's something you think will never happen to you until you discover your house or apartment has been infested. Then you have to go to war with them. You can call the professionals or fight them yourself with these products. We did both. Between that and all the stuff we had to throw out, bed bugs must have cost me about $4,000.00 - but it would have been much less if we had known about the mattress and pillow covers.

Essential for totaly ridding your home of bed bugs!
You cannot get rid of bed bugs by simply buying one product, but these interceptor traps are an essential step in ridding your home of the problem. Had a bed bug problem in the past and totally eradicated them from my home by placing these traps under each post of all beds (in conjunction with spraying all mattresses and cloth furniture and washing all bed linens and curtains -- yes, these bugs hide in the seems of curtains at night, then crawl down into your bed when you sleep and feed on you; if you have bed bugs, check the seems in the curtains and you will likely see a bunch of bed bug eggs). I spray the mattresses and furniture with a spray called "Dead Bed Bugs" to kill the bugs and after that dried, I sprayed again with HotShot (bed bug formula), which kills the eggs. These things travel on your clothing, so make sure to change your clothes and wash all laundry, especially sheets and blankets. I know the interceptor traps were essential because I only bought one set at first and the bugs stopped attacking me after I sprayed, washed everything, and placed these traps under each post on my bed; but my sister kept getting bit in her bed (even though we sprayed and washed everything), because they would climb up into her bed at night. After seeing how these traps kept me from getting more bugs in my bed, I bought more traps for all of the beds in the house. After placing interceptor traps under all bed posts, and after a few more weeks of changing and washing bedding, and spraying mattresses and furniture, we had totally eradicated the problem from my home. Another key element was to put headboards on all beds, so as to keep the beds from touching the walls -- yes, they also travel into your bed by climbing up the walls; so headboards were also key in ridding our home of the problem. I hope this info. helps -- it worked for me!

These work, and not just for bed bugs!
I bought these for my roommate and I after pest control came and sprayed our apartment. I wanted a way to keep track of whether or not we were getting rid of them. (Having someone come spray probably is cheaper in the long run, if there's someone in your area who knows what they're doing. I live in an area with lots of migrant workers so bed bugs are problem around here, which luckily means we have a company that knows how to handle them). Our combination of spraying and vacuuming worked because I only ever caught one bed bug right after they sprayed. (Another tip: after you wash and dry all your clothing/bedding LEAVE IT SEALED UP SO THE BUGS CANT GET TO IT pest control told us to do this for 4 weeks. It's not fun or easy but it was worth it). These won't work if you move out of your bed. In fact, pest control strictly told us not to do that because that just spreads the bugs around. They'll hunt you down. Don't do that to yourself. We caught lots of earwigs with these though. Talk about a nasty looking bug. So I definitely plan on leaving these on my bed. Not only because I live in an apartment where the bed bugs could come back at any time, but also to keep all the other creepy crawlies out of my bed.
