Great book to learn how surfboards work. Good for any surfer, shaper/builder or student doing a school project for STEM.

Some reviewers are really nerding out on the specifics of this book. This book isn't going to make anyone a great shaper but it will get one closer to the thought processes of the great shapers. Ive read some reviews about the book that are rather opinionated and I guess Id just say to calm the heck down. This is a great book and Im glad I got it. I'd say use this one to get some vocabulary and concepts down and then actually talk to other living surfers and shapers.

Great book. Great information. I have been surfing for the last 25 years, and this book added a lot to my surf.

Both are great books that compliment by extensive collection. My only criticism was the time, nearly three weeks, that they took to arrive from time of order.

must have book for young surfer

Really like the way it brings together applied science, history and a laid-back magazine format. Some great insights into the evolution of surfboards, the interviews are pretty revealing. Bonus: As a learner surfer (2 years and loving every wave) I learned a heap about why I keep falling off! Turns out those fins and rails are a big deal ;-)

Informative and well laid out book.The book follows a logical structure to layout and explain basic design and performance principals with simple physical and engineering concepts to educate the reader on how surfboard design features work, when and why.This book helps the reader to understand which boards will suit you and why and is, more broadly, an interesting read.

Ein schönes Buch aber kein echtes Hardcover. Das fand ich für den Preis etwas enttäuschend. Ich baue selber Surfbretter und fand es schön ein kleines Kompendium zu haben. Zu viel sollte man jedoch nicht erwarten.
