However, being that the guide sits across both sides of the chain that is being filed, makes for a more accurate filing. It has improved the working of the saw in combination with sharpening the chain with a different tool.

I use this to set the depth for my electric chain grinder. Easy to use and holds up good.

I had sharpened the chain several times and it was starting to kick out saw dust instead of nice cut chips. After using this tool, the chain now cuts like it's brand new. I recommend it.

I use the guide to judge how much to file the rakers but don't file the rakers with the guide in place. As other reviewers have said, the guide doesn't look like it would hold up to filing. Other reviewers complained about the file. I found that I can remove metal from the rakers with it and it's therefore adequate.

File is pretty good. Guide works but wears quickly.
