Gayathri has a finger on the pulse of the entire testing world!
Jumping right into the basics of what I find to be a good book, Full Stack Testing is well structured. The core chapters all follow the same pattern which starts with Building Blocks and ends with Exercises. A book that not only dives into theory, but practice too makes it truly remarkable. The chapters are also presented in an order that is so natural it seems to fit perfectly within any development environment. The Building Blocks were great for all front end engineers. The only caveat is that most of the exercises provided are for web. However, make no mistake even as an Android Engineer I gained a ton of invaluable insight. This book is still worth its weight in gold. Although the exercises were for web, some of the technologies are also found in mobile development: Applitools being one. There were also times when she made mention of the mobile alternatives to consider. For example in the Performance Testing chapter she made mention of the Profiler, so she definitely placed effort into filling the mobile gap. Furthermore, she even included a chapter on Mobile Testing although every chapter is still fruitful for mobile engineers. Every chapter is put together extremely well to offer tons of foundational gold to Full Stack Testing. Without this knowledge, odds are there will be layers of software not tested at all, or not properly tested. If you’re a software engineer, do yourself a solid and purchase this book especially if you’re a frontend engineer! Every chapter is filled with golden nuggets. If I had to choose my favorite chapters they will include Performance Testing, Accessibility Testing, Security Testing, Cross Functional Testing, and (by default) Mobile Testing. Gayathri provides so much insight it is almost unbelievable! In the end, this book is subtitled “A Practical Guide for Delivering High Quality Software” and she delivered just that. She explained, in great detail, Full Stack Testing for modern web and mobile applications and she even closed with a chapter introducing the future of testing for emerging technologies like VR, AR, ML and more. Without this book, it’s a great chance something will be missed in your testing environment.

The Desire to Be a “Well-Rounded” Tester
To the author: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing this book. I’ve been searching for awhile for a book like this! Most books on testing usually have just one focus whether it’s automated, database, or functional testing. This book is a “one-stop shop” for those new to the field. I’d love for you to continue writing and expound on mobile testing. However, that does not take away from the greatness of this book. Well done!
