This product should be rated higher
I used this product on 4 different hair types. It didn't work with the lightly wavy types but it didn't harm. It worked with 2c type and 3a type. The 2c was 11 at the time and this product straightened it beautifully. After few months, the natural curls came back but they were straighter and easier to manage. The type 3c is 12. It didn't straighten it but it smoothed the curls to a 2c type. It's been almost 4 months and still the same. She can detangle it and brush it herself and if we decide it to style it, it takes 20 to 30 minutes. It used to take 3 hours.I recommend this product but I learned that it's for ages 12 and up.

didn't straighten my hair
I got a perm early spring of 2012, it held really well. got pregnant and my hair started to grow like crazy! got really thick (normally i have thin hair and doesn't hold a perm). I had expected the perm to wash out or at least be less curly by the end of the year. Half my hair was straight the other half curly. Previous with other perms i buy the home perm solution and then just use the product without putting my hair in curlers and my hair ends up straight again. This time i thought to buy this product since it was designed to straighten hair. My hubs helped me for the hour it took to go through the process.... i thought the amount of time it would take would be worth it. I was wrong! my hair is still curly. i admit not AS curly... but it's def not straight. it's a little easier to blow dry my hair straight than before and it's less poofy... but it's not straight. bought a home perm solution kit and am just gonna straighten my hair like i've done in the past. it was totally disappointing because there are SO MANY steps to this product and it took forever and i needed help with the application and the results were crappy. i think the girls on the box where they show the curly hair to straight hair is because the stylist blow dried or flat ironed the models hair!!! don't buy this product unless you want to have an hour of your day gone that you'll never get back :(

I will definitely use again
I used to use Curl Free years ago and this is very similar. I was a little nervous using a new product so I didn't leave it on very long, maybe 3 minutes. I use medium brown henna on my brown hair to color the few grays so I did a strand test but still was a little nervous. My hair was relaxed for sure but next time I will leave it on longer so it's a little more straight. It's still curly but this stretched the curl out just enough to make it much more manageable. I will definitely purchase this again.

Using on grey Caucasian hair
I put a lot into this review, because I also depend on them...and I just couldn't find much about grey hair on this product.Overall I'm happy with the results, hence the 4 stars. That said, this is my step by step experience and analysis.First and foremost, I never ever had curls till my 40s, then I began developing this strong and very obnoxious wave that required straightening to manage.Just another perk that comes with aging I guess. LolNow I'm 52, and have these bomb grey highlights...but they also have a mind of their own. They are the true reason I began searching for a more permanent solution. It just made sense to me that if you can "home perm curls"... Why not "home perm straight?" Viola, here I am.Overall this product was a great success, and I'm only dinging it one star because I feel the directions could have been clearer...and a little more flexible with processing times. No doubt it's an obvious case of lawsuit protection for them, but I know my results would have been more satisfying if they offered more than just type a or b hair.In step 2 where you apply the processor, they have you categorize your hair and either process for 5 or 10 minutes. Nothing in between!!!!Not wanting to "over process", I did 5 minutes and quickly rinsed the required 10 minutes. In hindsight, my hair is healthy...but also very strong and resistant to perms. (Learned that in the 80s)I should have met in the middle and left it on about 8 minutes. That is not an option on the directions... but again, it's more to protect them, and quite honestly I just wasn't thinking. But we know our own hair and it's resistance, and the condition of it.Don't be afraid to up it by just a couple minutes if you feel your hair can both handle it, and probably even requires it.I read in some reviews where people complained it washed out within a week, this was not my experience. It's been a couple weeks for me, and my hair is still significantly better than it was. Finally, the directions say not to use a ponytail or hair clip for a week. But also urge not to use anything other than a blow dryer to style for that week.Again, I'm a common sense kinda gal. If I'm not going to put my hair up because the hair is still "processing" to the point it can leave an indentation from a hair clip.... Why wouldn't I want to straighten it to help it lay flat???I'll say it once more, I can't speak for the condition of anyone else's hair...but we generally know if our hair is healthy or damaged. Be smart about it.Based on this theory, I did use a straightener when I washed for the first time. (48 hours after treatment)It looked (and still looks) fabulous...zero regrets. In summary, I'll wait a couple months, and do it again. What I'll do differently is process for 8 minutes. (Not 5...not 10)And the odds are good that I'll use a straightener after treatment, because my hair can take it...and I want the curl out as it continues to "cure" over those first crucial days.Overall, my hair healthy is undamaged from the treatment. The grey a bit more manageable, and I am far less annoyed by the new curls. One last thing, their leave in conditioner is a bit of a joke. It's water thin, and certainly lakes any moisturized feeling you get after a good wash. (Or 3, lol)I meant to research the ingredients to find if it's a necessary step to the chemicals being used. If it's not, I'll surely be using a decent leave in conditioner next time. There will be a next time though, and I'll absolutely update this review when it happens.

Calms the curls
I had to use it on my clients short curly hair. She has very unruly curls and big callicks by her forehead.I use this procedure instead of the thermal ones that are ironed into the hair for safety reasons. Her hair is much more softer, no burns, no heavy duty perm smells! I will wait a week and do it again. The directions say not to save anything. Oh please 🙄! Of course you can. Just use good judgment. I don’t use the comb the whole time. Gently use your dings in the opposite direction of the curls and follow the directions. It’s very easy. I read how many people burned their hair??? It’s so easy I cannot understand how anyone could. Do not use it in heavy bleached hair. If you do, follow the instructions but go less time. It’s a process. Just take your time, and be patient. I love this product. I’m not sure how long it’s been on a shelf, but it won’t matter because it’s a no brainer!

Read the directions for the best results
I have been using Zotos 3 month straightener for years. It’s my go to for straight, more manageable hair. I like the instructions - following them is a great reminder to be aware that there is potential to damage my hair. I love the use of oil in strategic places too. It’s worth the price and certainly a bargain compare to going to have it done. The scent requires me to make sure the bathroom is well ventilated, putting the exhaust fan helps. When finished my hair is straight, shiny and moisturized.
