Worked perfectly to keep our Cardigan Welsh Corgis cool and comfortable.
We purchased two Small Graphite Gray Ruffwear Swamp Cooler Evaporative Dog Cooling Vests for our two male Cardigan Welsh Corgis, who each weigh about 36 pounds. The fit was perfect and our boys were very comfortable. The side clips were easily adjustable and quick to clip and unclip. The construction appears to be very good.We participated in a 2-day dog event which was held outside in 100 degree weather. Our Cardigans are not used to the heat and we needed to be able to keep them cool for about 8 hours each day outside. We soaked the vests for just a couple of minutes in cold water in the sink, wrung out the excess water and put them on our pups. Within minutes, our boys went from panting to comfortably napping. It was quite remarkable how quickly and well the vests worked. The pups stayed cool and were clearly comfortable wearing them all day.

Works on a Husky: Update
So I live in Phoenix with two huskies. It’s hot in the summer, but being huskies, they NEED to get out. The past few summers we have been walking them in the dark, but even then it can be over 100 degrees. I did some research on husky sites, and found mixed reviews. So, I bought one for each dog: L for my boy and M for my girl. The GOOD: It definitely cools their bodies. Every night I take the swamp cooler vests off and their bodies underneath are cool but not wet. But the real question: Does it really cool huskies (or any double-coated dog) down? A little. I notice on the hot days they are panting a little less when wearing the vest v. when they don’t wear the vest. My girl’s coat is thicker than the boy’s and she doesn’t seem to enjoy the benefits as much as he does. However, it’s an extra layer of “cool” in the heat. I think they would really work for a dog without the double coat. For reference- I get them wet about 30 minutes before our walk and then put them in the freezer to cool them down a little more. It’s not the “super hot” time yet, so I’ll update if I think they’re not effective in the really hot heat. The BAD: They can get heavy if you don’t wring them out well and drip all over the house. It took my pups a while to get used to them. They are a little bulky. Being that they work under the idea of evaporation, I’m not sure they’d work in a humid climate. Swamp coolers are definitely a thing for houses in Phoenix. They are a little pricey.Would I buy again? YES.UPDATE: We have used these a little more and they are a LIFE SAVER. They make such a difference in the super-hot weather in Phoenix. We won’t take the huskies out in the heat without them. I can definitely tell the difference when we don’t put them in the swamp coolers.

I want to love this
I live in a very hot, very humid climate. The good:1. It works-- my dog's skin feels much cooler when I put my hand under the vest.2. I really like that the material reflects the sun.3. It works with a harness, too. I have recently started using a harness (Coastal Pets Walk Right Control which is very compact and adds no padding under the vest) and was pleased to see there are two openings for leashes, one at the neck (you can see the tab in the image) and the other a little more than halfway back or so. The vest was great with the harness.4. It is very attractive and quite the conversation starter. People wondered why I had a coat on my dog and I explained that it was actually a cooling vest. A few people even came over and felt under the vest to her cool skin. They were impressed! The reason I don't love this:1. The instructions say it works best when it has good contact with the dog. But, the only way to fit it to the dog is a belly strap. I noticed the at the chest piece was loose. I wish the chest pieces were adjustable so they would fit more snugly.2. Because I use a harness, the vest fits far back on my dog, leaving her neck exposed. She had very bad mange when she was rescued and the fur is quite thin on the back of her neck. I was hoping to get something that would cover her a little higher. I think if I used the collar opening, it might be little higher but not much. What I would LOVE is for the design to have a collar (like a shirt collar, not a dog collar) so that it covered more of the dog's neck. (Actually what I want is a kepi for my dog. She has too much exposed skin.)3. Even more so, I wish there was an inside pocket in the chest area so I could insert something like a TheraPearl ice pack or Kool Tubes. I try to walk my dog early but it was already 79 degrees at 8:00 a.m. and the humidity is absolutely brutal. Ruffwear makes inserts that can be used with some of their vests, but I think a reinforced pocket inside the vest would be so much better. All things considered, I'm happy with the product and will keep using it. I can feel a difference on her skin. I just think it needs a few improvements.Others have mentioned that it snags easily. All I do with my dog is walk her. She is heartworm positive (we begin treatment soon) so she's not running around like a crazy fool dog. Once we have done the treatment, I think what I will do is take her to the dog park, let her play, then put the vest on her. I don't think I would try to hike with this vest or let her play with other dogs.

Works like a dream even in a hot/dry climate
This product has been a lifesaver. My dog is a Great Pyrenees mix and gets overheated quickly. This jacket not only seems to keep him cooler on hikes and walks, but it also helps him cool down and stop panting much quicker after taking it off. Even in a dry, hot climate, it holds the water on the underside of the jacket for more than an hour before needing to be reset. I do soak it and only lightly ring it out to help it last longer. It’s easy to put on and my dog had no problem adjusting to wearing it, although he does shake several times when it first goes on. It also cleans up really well, often only requiring a rinse under the sink even after he’s laid in the dirt with it on. My only caveat is I did need to size up compared to the measurements, but I’ve had that with a couple Ruffwear products including the Singletrak pack.

Awesome jacket.
I love this. My dog has a lot of fur and doesn’t take to the heat well and doesn’t like pools. This keeps her cool and stops her from overheating. She is a retriever/husky large dog thing. Easy to use. She even seems to like it.

Also neuer Versuch mit Größe XS (Brustumfang 50 cm).

It fits and it works
This is the fifth cooling coat I've bought for my dog, a small border terrier. The other four either didn't fit her or didn't work. This coat fits her perfectly - probably because the measurement taken is round the chest, not the length of her back. It's also very effective at cooling her down - she stops panting within seconds of me putting it on her. The smaller sizes are more expensive, but have the advantage of buckles which are easy to click in and have adjustable straps. Some customers have commented that the light colour of the coat shows the dirt - which is true. However the light colour also reflects sunlight making the coat more effective.
