Claber8983 Garden Hose to Accessory Quick Set Connector, Adapter, Black, Orange

If you want to quickly attach any accessory to the end of your hose, this is your item. This is also the connector you want if you want to attach an accessory to your accessory on the end of your hose (e.g. attach a water want to an in-line filter to your hose -- see photos).I was very confused about quick connectors when I first saw them online. I couldn't figure out how they worked, and why there were two different types (faucet to hose, and hose to accessory). This hose-to-accessory connector is different than the faucet-to-hose quick connector because the black & orange piece comes before the black piece (in terms of water flow direction). The black & orange piece will stop the water flow if not connected to the black piece. You can actually use the faucet to hose connector for accessories too, but it will not stop the water flow when disconnected. I found this out the hard way.I was worried about lead in brass fittings, which is why I opted for this plastic one. Considering that it is plastic, it feels very robust and has not leaked yet even after a few weeks of use by me and a rambunctious toddler.

I bought this item so I could connect the hose to the outside spigot and make things easier when I need to disconnect the hose reel. I have disconnected and reconnected the hose reel at least once a week over the last month when I mow the lawn so I could move the hose reel out of the way. Very nice to be able to mow along side your house and not have the hose reel in your way. Instead of just moving it around a little and try to mow around it. I also like the water stop feature if you disconnect the hose while the water is on so you don't have to shut the water off and then turn it back on. Real time saver if you have the need to do something like this. I would recommend this if someone is looking for a product that will save you time and is easy to use and at a great price.

Excellent product. Makes moving hoses, nozzles and sprinklers a "snap".I have about 15 of these items on everything outside. You need one female connector for each faucet and male hose end around your yard. That gives you enough male ends to be useful, but you need to make sure you have a male connector for each attachment (hose, nozzle, sprinkler, sprayer, etc.). So I bought an abundance of 8983 connectors. Notice there are two methods of attaching the hose to the nozzle; use the 8983 product. Do not use the 8458 style. The 8983 has a water stop feature that stops the flow if you disconnect the hose with the water on. The stop is easily removed and/or put-back.Order on line at Amazon; your local hardware store will not have enough. Buying one or two is pointless.

Nearly impossible to disconnect I would rather just unscrew stuff and it leaks

I really had high hopes for the Claber line of products based on what I've read from other reviewers. I have no qualms with their spray nozzle. But I have a major complaint with their quick connect valve assemblies. The water stop mechanism works so well that even when I connect the spray nozzle onto these quick connect valve no water comes out of the spray. Tried as hard as I might I cannot get this thing to work! I took out the inner valve to figure out what went wrong...now I can't seem to put the mechanism back again. I called their company and the best they could do was try to sent me a replacement quick connect. Well it took several calls and more than a month later quick connect came in the mail .... but it wasn't the right one! I give up! No more Claber products for me :(

These quick-connects work well to join hoses for occasional use. There is no leaking, and the water stop works every time. I dropped one star because they are very hard to grip, to separate, when my hands are wet, and since I am dealing with water, my hands are usually wet! More attention to the grip-ability of the orange part would make these perfect.

It has made using my pressure washer so much easier. Instead of replacing the entire hose which has a worn connector, I've got the problematic end plugged into the female threaded connector and the male piece on the pressure washer. Now I can move washer around without the hose popping loose all the time. And if this quick connector/disconnector comes apart no water is wasted. Love that shut-off feature of this connector.PS. The first time you use it make sure both ends snap in or you might be wondering why there isn't any water flow.

Works well and interchangeable with the ones I bought a few years ago. Very happy with the product.

It seems a bit flimsy. For the short time that I've had this, the plastic seems to jam a lot and requires a bit of force to remove the "quick connect". Too lazy to return it and already threw out the box. It's no Gardena but you get what you paid for I guess... even at this price I expected a bit better.
