## Description

Before electric cooking devices were common, cast iron waffle irons were the standard and used on stoves, open fires and woodstoves. This design is the same diameter as our 1100, but the Pie Iron style removable handles make it perfect for BBQ grill use. Original design by Rome.

If you had asked me to review them after I had to scrape my first couple of stuck waffles out, the number would be much different. But after figuring out our issue (season them well, use plenty of spray and add a little extra oil to your waffle batter) these made the most delicious waffles while we were camping. We made gluten free waffles and my mom thought they were better than her regular ones she makes at home. Such a treat, can't wait to take them camping again. Waffles is our new favorite camping breakfast thanks to these irons.

**Q: any one ever use this at home on a gas stove... and can the wooden handels be removed to do an oven type seasoning ?**
A: yes, the wooden handles can be removed and it can be oven season.   the other thing is that it is real versatile I use it on my gas stove as well as a campfire

**Q: Is it only the wooden part of the handles that is removable, or does the entire metal handle come off along with the wooden part?**
A: The entire handle unscrews, which makes it much easier to season before use.

**Q: If you take the handles off for use on a gas stove, is it hard to open the lid and to turn the waffle iron over?**
A: It is pretty heavy even without the handles.  You can use a heavy-duty tongs or the "Ov glove."  I didn't care too much for this iron - it's made in China and even after I followed all the pre-cooking instructions, it still has a bad metallic smell, and I don't really trust whatever metals this was made from in China.....

**Q: Where is it made?**

These irons are well made and work great. If you had asked me to review them after I had to scrape my first couple of stuck waffles out, the number would be much different. The handle kind of get loose sometimes, but aside tfrom that, it is so wonderful! I use it DAILY, and my son eats almost nothing besides waffles. So I have used this multiple times every day since I bought it. It also worked great at camp, though it was a little tough to get the heat right.
