This is absolutely brilliant I bought two for my grandsons and they absolutely love them

Good fun when you get the hang of it.
Bit noisy, and tricky to get the hang of, but good fun when you get it.

Not as good as I thought
From teh advertising, I thought this would be the best flying toy but it did not live up to my expectations. It did fly but just went off on it's own path and none of us could make teh boomerang flight work.

Really fun, hard to control though
The media could not be loaded. So this is lots of fun for kids, but it's really hard to control. It's more like a ball that throws itself 😂 But keeps children active chasing it.Pros:• Does fly, you just turn on and spin the device and it starts up. It can go pretty far so, keep away from roads!• Easy to charge• Soft/flexible frame, reducing damage to items around it if impacted; and also doesn't hurt if it hits you during play.• Safe for kids - although we haven't tested sticking fingers into the fanCons:• Hard to control• Fiddly on/off button (easier 2 handed).

Doesn't fly straight and an expensive toy for a few minutes
The Imikoko Flying Boomerang Ball Toy had potential to be something unique. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as I expected nor as advertised. The box didn't impress me with some broken English an example being "Aviation Knowledge Enlightenment. Conservation of angular momentum +Bernoulli principle you can control the flight path by controling the attitude angle".Inside you find the ball itself, a 'hat' for the ball and some stickers to make your ball look like some copyrighted characters that I doubt this company has the licence to use...The ball itself actually feels pretty decent, the fan is enased in the cage and so it felt like little risk to getting little fingers caught on the fan (though it still recommends that this toy not be used unless 6+). Charging was quick and when turned on the ball gives a pretty neat light show.Attaching the rather flimsy 'hat' and flicking your wrist turns the ball on. Here you notice the fan is noisy. There are meant to be multiple ways you can use this. Firstly you can throw the ball at a slight angle and it should fly back, or alternatively you can lift it gently up in to the air and it should float above your hand somewhat. In fairness this worked ok, it usually flew back a bit to the side, and occasionally had a mind of its own. It's when it flies off in random directions that was concerning, at times it flew around our living room bumping into things. It's meant to turn off upon bumping into something but one time we couldn't get it to turn off and so it flew around for 20-30 seconds wreaking havoc. You're also meant to be able to switch it off by flicking your wrist again but this occasionally didn't work either. The off button happens to be on the bit that spins too so I didn't fancy risking my fingers in this instance...Overall, if this was say £5 I'd suggest its a fun novelty toy that could keep your kids entertained for an hour or so, providing they have a lot of patience and a lot of open space. At time of review however this is nearly 5 times that and I simply cannot recommend it.

Absolutely unique idea!
This is a really unusual...thing!It's not really a drone; it's more like a levitating ball. The product video gives quite a good idea of how it flies and what you can do with it.How it works is there is a pair of contra-rotating fans that blow air downward, producing almost its own weight in downward thrust. Stability is given from the gyroscopic effects. Consequently, if launched correctly it will return to where you threw it from, like a boomerang. However, it's not all that easy to get right; there is no electronic stabilisation assistance, so you have to throw it correctly, else it will barrel off into the nearest wall. The trick is to throw it level, a bit like if you were throwing a frisbee, so that the thrust supports most of its weight and the lateral movement comes from your throw. It does have some internal sensors; to start the thing up you need to hold it upright (motor at the top) and flick your wrist upwards. Once started make sure it's level - there will be gyroscopic forces trying to flip it over - and then throw. The sensors also stop the motors once it detects that it is no longer flying, or in a flyable orientation after bouncing off a wall. However, if you throw and catch it, or it doesn't crash hard, it will keep going. It charges up very quickly - less than 30 mins - and the battery seems to last quite a while - I've not actually had it run out on me yet; I've been more limited by the attention span of my 3 year old. Finally, I'd not mentioned the lights, which are great, especially if flown in a dark room or better, outside at night. There is an LED strip with various colours on it; as the strip spins around it makes 'lines'. They actually look much better than shown in the product image. There are 4 each top and bottom, and they change colour making patterns and so on. I think that they are programmed to all light up when the ball thinks that it stable enough to be thrown; it certainly seems to fly better if you wait for the lights to stop changing before releasing it. Once airborne it will change colours and put on a fun display.I'd suggest this is more fun for slightly older kids (6-7+) to play with because it does require an understanding of how to throw it. It does open up opportunities to talk about STEM educational subjects, such as balance of forces, gyroscopic effects, and so on.

Feels fragile but fun
The media could not be loaded. Fantastic little toy good fun but a bit hard to master ( for me anyway lol ) feels a bit fragile and after a few knocks maybe the cage may snap so an outdoor toy better with two people. There's a picture of a magic wand on the box and mentioned in the instructions this is an add in item and have to purchase this separately so can't comment on that. Lots of flashing lights makes it more appealing to want to play with. I got about an hour out of the battery.
