Stitch 'n Bitch Nation

Great Second Book
I bought the originial SnB and this one I had to get shortly after. This is not beginner's book...for that go buy the first one. There are still patterns in here that a beginner could make. It had some wonderful information in how to change patterns to make them your own, such as how to turn that cute sweater with a horrible turtle neck into a V neck and so on. Wonderful stuff for someone who looks at patterns and thinks about where they would make little changes. But that is just the instruction part. The patterns are what grabs your eye. All the patterns have great pictures in color and there are little tips by knitters spread out around the book. It's a little sad to see people complain they didnt like every pattern. Any book with this many patterns is not going to be a hit for every single one in the book. New it's what $10..used I've seen as low as $2.00. If you like two patterns it was money well spent. As for mistakes...please please do not let those negative reviews discourage you. Those were only in the first editions and had been fixed since. The authors website does have the corrections should you get the old edition, but mine bought used had everything fixed. I personally loved the catwarming set they had in here, so easy and my cat goes BONKERS for his knit mouse. You can't beat the price.

Lots of great patterns
There are many appealing patterns in here, from a mock-cable scarf to a gorgeous felted bag customized with one's initial to an aqua kimono jacket. My only gripe is that I think it would have been helpful to rate the patterns by difficulty. For this beginning knitter, some projects look like they would be simple but then require more advanced skills (such as the grafting in the felted slippers project). It definitely helps to have the first Stitch N Bitch book to refer to, in those cases. The beginning section about the spread of the Stitch N Bitch phenomenon and about customizing one's own patterns is very enjoyable to read because the author has an engaging, enthusiastic writing style. I admire her for starting and capitalizing on a trend that is providing hours of creativity and enjoyment for many new knitters... and indeed ceasing to be a trend, instead becoming part of our popular culture and a link to the past.

Great Instructions for Beginners and Good Reference for More Experienced Knitters
This is the book I used to teach myself to knit. The instructions are very clear and it is written in a more casual style than most instructional books, which is just what I needed to be able to understand some of the techniques without having an experienced knitter to teach me. The patterns are fun but the designs do tend to be geared towards teens or young adults. I have only knit a few of the designs presented, but this book is a great reference guide and I keep it within easy reach when I am knitting in case I am a little unclear on a technique. I would definitely recommend this to others (and I have)!

EXCELLENT follow up book
This is just the book I was waiting for! Stoller continues to delight with her witty, fun approach to knitting. The fifty patterns are enticing...I cannot wait until my finals are over this week to get started!Much appreciated in this book is the beginning section on how to alter existing patters. There have been sweaters I want to alter, using different yarn guages but haven't had a clear idea of exactly how to do that. I can't wait to get started on playing with patterns to come up with my own creations. There are some excellent, quick projects in this book that can be knit up quick for gifts, and, in my opinion, handmade gifts are more personal and meaningful thangift cards. An improvement in this book is the fact that the color pictures are with the patterns, so you no longer have to flip back and forth between picture and pattern.

Something about Stoller
There's something about the Stitch 'n Bitch series that makes me keep coming back. I think it's kind of like pizza- you know you could eat something healthier, but it just tastes good!Every book she puts out is written in such a way that's totally engaging, even if you're not interested in the topic or if it's something you've known how to do since you learned how to knit.Plus (and this is the big plus, I think this is the closest to the truth as to why I keep buying these frikkin' books,)the patterns are both current and timeless.

Great knitting book
I love this book, it has some great knitting patterns to follow along to. There's also a community, I've never participated but it seems fun!

Fun book
This is a fun book and great for beginners or the more advanced knitter. It has a glossary of stitches for those times you just can't remember how a particular stitch is supposed to go. The only reason that I gave it four stars is because the selection of patterns isn't all that great. I bought the book to have some basic "go to" items and didn't end up making any of them. I now have a grand daughter that loves hats with ears so I will probably make that one now.

Great book for all knitters of any skill level.
This is a great book for beginner as well as skilled knitters. I bought this book originally to make the Headline News Cap but once I received this book I found many other patterns I want to make. I completed the newsboy cap with ease. The instructions were very clearly written and easy to follow. My cap came out perfectly and I have another one on the needles ready to knit. I recommend this book. There are many interesting tips and advice in the beginning of the book and I learned some neat techniques that have been useful to me in other projects. I am very happy with this purchase.

A bit meh
I actually found this rather disappointing. The patterns are squarely aimed at beginners, and are quite honestly, nothing special. Save your money and make yourself a Ravelry account instead, far more range of pattern styles and difficulties.

middle rate knitting book
unfortunately I didnt enjoy stitch and bitch nation as much i thought i would. personally I found the a lot of the patterns to be quite garish and simply unstylish. furthermore the vocabulary used to instruct knitting was down right confusing. the instructions were drawn which i have always hated. so i suppose i cant wait to pass on this book!

lots of patterns!
This, Debbie Stoller's second Stitch 'n Bitch book, follows on nicely from the first and is designed to appeal to the new generation of younger, cooler knitters (isn't that all of us?). It assumes you've got a basic knowledge of knitting and shows you some of the more complex stuff, eg how to adapt patterns to suit different yarns (or different body shapes!) and how to write your own patterns. It's got 50 new patterns ranging from baby gifts to fishnet tights, and whilst none of them look impossibly difficult, most have a new trick to teach you like a lace pattern or a cable. As this is an American book not all of the yarn is easily available in the UK - quite a few of the patterns specify Rowan wool which should be fairly easy to source, but most of those that aren't don't look too difficult to find substitutes for. I've made a couple of the scarves so far as gifts, and they've been very well recieved - I'm now half way through the "Baby's First Tattoo" cardie which has been very easy to follow and looks like another winner! Highly recommended.
