Game changer
I cut a hole in the side of my burn barrel about 10 inches up and mounted this. This way no ashes or coals would fall out. Completely changed the way the barrel burned material. Gets oxygen in where it is needed.

Very sturdy and well made
This thing is a beast. Definitely overkill for it’s purpose, but finding a vent for a drum smoker was surprisingly difficult. The same comes makes a sliding type, but their website made it essentially impossible to order, so off to Amazon. This is heavy, very sturdy and well made. It’ll outlast the smoker for sure.

Missing hardware
Fan of these products, however finishing a new UDS in a crunched timeline. Now I must waste time at the hardware store matching sizes to ensure proper seal.

Doesn't seal completely, but does the job
Bought this and installed it on my Char-Griller offset smoker/grill on the opposite side of the factory chimney. The curved flange fits the curvature of the grill's lid quite nicely.Installation was fine - drill a 1.5" hole and then four holes for the bolts, paint the parts with hi-temp BBQ paint, apply hi-temp RTV to mating surfaces, and bolt it together - but I found out once I had tightened down the hinge bolt for the damper even slightly, the damper would bow upwards and leave about a 1/16" gap between the two surfaces. This means that even when it's fully "closed" it's still allowing a significant amount of leakage. (With the bead of RTV inside, there's no leakage at the flange.) Mainly, my gripe about this is it creates an opening for rain to get into my grill now. I'm going to have to just plop an empty can or something over this now whenever I'm not using it. Otherwise, it seems okay. A bit overbuilt with way heavier-than-necessary material for being just a simple damper/vent, but aside from the aforementioned leakage issue, it's pretty well-made, so the price seems fair. Dinging it one star for the leakage - not sure if I can bend it a bit to make it seal up better or fix that in some other way.
