I got this to fit glock 19 mos gen 5 slide to put my holosun on...it wont sit in any of the channels to use it...what is it for a sig p365?

Same with me, won't fit my Glocks slides inverted to work on the internals. Guessing it is not really universal!!!

It is 1.25" thick and circular with a diameter of 3 7/8"

Does this work on the front sight of an ar-15 a frame style of a smith and wesson?

I have a S&W M&P 15 and it fits in the block. I hope that helps.

Is it rubber or just hard plastic?

It's a hard polymer plastic, most likely either high density polypropylene or polyenthylene. For a tool like this, it'd be pretty stupid to be made of any type of rubber, hard or soft due to chipping/peeling rubber would do in the applications this product again is made for!
