You could gently hand vacuum with an attachment, but I would not use an upright to vacuum the fur. It is not designed to be a utility floor rug. I would shake it out more often than not.

Q: What is the best way to clean the 10 pelt with matting?

I've never had matting, but I just use a pet brush to fluff it up from time to time. Ours is on a chair, not on the floor.
