Outstanding all-around knife, unfortunate name.
It's unfortunate that Spyderco decided to go with the name "Spydiechef," as I think it turns people away from what is an excellent all-around utility and outdoor knife, mistakenly believing it is designed for food prep. It is much thinner and compact than it looks in photos, and is very slim and unnoticeable in the pocket, especially with its deep-carry wire clip. The blade has a deep belly and is very useful for a number of applications. It feels great in my medium sized hands, without any hot spots. Build quality is excellent, with super tight tolerances and fit and finish typical of the Taichung-manufactured Spyderco models. There is greater than 50% lockup, which apparently is by design. I have no problem with that. There is a bit of lock-stick, but this can be helped with the application of a little graphite. What drew me to the knife is the choice of materials - titanium and LC200N - which make this knife highly rust-resistant. Taken together, this is the perfect outdoor utility knife for someone who works in marine or other wet environments. It is also small and light enough to carry around as a daily user.Although it is worth every penny, I believe the cost and unfortunate name keep this knife from being more widely owned. It has become one of my favorite knives, and I look forward to future LC200N knives from Spyderco.

A Robust, Compact, Versatile Folder, With Uniquelly Useful Features.
This small, flat, lightweight folder is ideal for any number of tasks. Not just food prep. I've been actively using it for over a month now. It is robustly made of the very finest materials. The sand-blasted titanium handle slabs are more than adequately strong without extra thickness which would add to the knife's bulk and weight. The handles is highly ergonomic and does not abrade my hand in hard, extended use.The sand-blasted wire clip grips the pocket securely while sliding easily in and out.Where the knife really shines is in the full flat ground, drop-point blade which is about 3/4 belly ... A superior shape for versatile utility. The steel, LC200N, which uses mostly nitrogen to replace the carbon, imparts outstanding rust resistance, even around salt water. But it doesn't end there:-- I own many knives with different blade alloys. I can honestly say, this steel takes a sharper edge, holds it longer, and is easier to resharpen than any other knife I own.If you're in the market for a folder in this price range, I recommend the Spydiechef, without reservation.

Finally!!!
I love this knife!!! It is a lot thinner than I thought it would be but that does make it so much easier to carry in the pocket. It came very very sharp! I have the scars to prove it haha. The fit and finish is spectacular. I was hoping the price would go down but now that they have discontinued it the prices are double if you can find one. If you get an opportunity to purchase one second hand just be sure to check the lock up because there is no lock bar insert. It is titanium on steel just like the Chris reeves sabenza. Mine has perfect lock up thankfully as it was the last one they had at $250. This knife is worth the asking price. I carry it all the time and the LC200N steel is holding up very well. I haven't had to sharpen it yet but I'm sure it will be a pain because the edge is holding up so well.

Great in the field or the kitchen
I love everything about this knife. After purchasing it to fit a very specific role, that of a folding ‘chef’s knife’, I quickly realized that it is actually my ideal everyday carry. The blade steel is awesome, lc200n. It is beyond stainless in terms of corrosion resistance. I live very close to the Atlantic Ocean, work outdoors often, and sweat quite a bit while this knife is in my pocket, but none of that has any effect on this knife. The blade has absolutely zero patina/corrosion showing, even after slicing acidic fruit & neglecting to rinse it off. The titanium handle and open back design also contribute to the ease of maintaining this knife. It’ll last longer than I will, I’m sure. The blade holds an edge pretty well, especially compared to H1 (the ‘other’ rust proof steel), and is relatively quick to sharpen. I’d say it compares pretty closely w/ s30v. Blade deploys smoothly. The RIL frame lock only took about a day of use out of the box before it had broken in, and there was absolutely no ‘lock stick’. The deep belly makes this blade a great slicer, while the design allows it ride it the pocket very discreetly, but securely. I bought it to use for specific occasions, but ended up using it more than any other blade I own.
