Testimony to the Faithfulness of God (+ contains some unique info)
Interesting book despite reading Hudson's biography previously. It seems the auther of this book did some research and included some information that is unique. I really enjoy reading their story. From my point of view Hudson did not always behave appropriately, thus disqualifying him from being a good example in some ways. Their's is a testimony to the faithfulness of God and the weakness of men.

To the ends of the earth
I already knew John Pollock was a good storyteller. I didn't know too much about Hudson Taylor except that his name keeps popping up in Chinese history, church history and missions history. I even read the other day that he was partly the inspiration for South American mission strategies that changed that continent. So I read this book in just about 2 sittings over the weekend and this evening. It's a story about the young Hudson Taylor, the reckless, devoted, loving, crazy, humble, faithful, heroic, generous and romantic Hudson Taylor. He had a passion for Chinese people that transcended class, nationality, religious and church customs and most rational people. He wanted to share Jesus to people who didn't know, who hadn't ever known. And he was willing to dress Chinese (foolish in the eyes of westerners) in order to do it.It's a story about human fears, and Hudson's fears for what he might be getting other people and his family into. If you don't know the story, you hope that none of those fears are realized . . . but that isn't what happened. What happens is heartbreaking and triumphant and inspirational.
