Batgirl 1: Beyond Burnside

Batgirl Is Finding Herself
I wanna say first off that I am a huge Batgirl fan. That being said, I want to give praise to this book, while still displaying a level of constructive criticism.(Side note, if you're a new fan who wants to get into Batgirl, I definitely recommend reading Batgirl And The Birds Of Prey first, as Batgirl: Beyond Burnside is more of a side story, following Barbara's past.)Batgirl: Beyond Burnside takes place before Birds of Prey. It follows Barbara Gordon's journey across the world, to fight crime, learn new skills, and to just find herself. It's a very "cute, cool, and new" Batgirl, while also having a piece of the Batgirl we know and love. If you're a fan of Batgirl, I really think you will enjoy this. Is it a must read? Not necessarily, considering it's somewhat of a side story to Birds of Prey. But it sure was a must read for me. The art is some of the best Batgirl art we've seen in a while. The style of art really sets the tone for this book. I enjoyed Barbara's eagerness to learn from a retired superhero named Fruit Bat. She wants to learn, and she's ready. This is the story of someone who wants to find herself, and this first volume chronicles her journey to learn, grow, and become a better Batgirl. Conclusion: If you can't get enough Batgirl, this book is for you. However, if you're not her biggest fan, it then becomes the kind of book you pick up while waiting for the next volume of your favorite comic book to come out. It's a side story, but it's a good one at that.

A Joyful Romp, Thoroughly Entertaining
I'm not a seasoned comic book veteran by any stretch of the imagination, but this particular volume and iteration of Batgirl felt particularly lighthearted and refreshing. It was fun and well-paced, had an interesting enough story and a likable protagonist. In a universe and franchise that can be particularly bogged down by grit and melodrama, this seemed almost breezy. I've got to say I enjoyed the read from start to finish. Looking forward to further volumes.

Asian Adventure
In which Babs vacations in East Asia and South East Asia. Fun new characters but just not my cup of tea story-wise. It's well crafted enough though so there is that.

Batgirl Vol. 1 Beyond Burnside (Rebirth)
Ok, but not great. The storyline seems a bit thin: Batgirl travelling around southeast Asia at the mercy of circumstance, with little or no plan. The artwork is fine. This book lacks the emotional and physical attributes that the New 52 brought to Batgirl. This is the last Batgirl graphic novel I will be purchasing. She is my favourite DC character, and I'm sorry to say, I am not impressed with this Rebirth rendition.

Backpaking and kicking hard
I love this girly, geeky Barbara. Batgirl is a pretty lighthearted story now but I'm pretty sure thats why Batwoman is in the Bat family, she is the dark tone, the Woman version of Batman. BatGIRL is exactly this now, a young girl, she is tenacious and kick ass still pretty hard but I enjoy the fact that she is always seeing the full half of the glass. You really care for Barbara as a character and thats eveyrthing I need to enjoy a comic book properly. Now about the art of this issue, Im not a huge fan but it fits the story even tho its too simplistic in my opinion. Thats why I'd give it a 4.

Great fun!
Very very good Batgirl book. The art is bright and colourful which gives the book a very upbeat tone, the story is very simplistic but is also fun. There's not much more that can be said without spoiling it other than it was a joy to read. Easy for long time and new readers to get into and I very much look forward to volume 2!

A very good comic book, a lot of action and we find in there some of famous dc's heroines and vilains.

A decent read
My first Batgirl comic ever and it was.....Ok. There's enough here to make me want to read more but it never feels like it goes anywhere in this particular issue.
