An immersive read
The author has created a real world filled with flesh & blood characters. While modern and relatable, the universe created by David Berger is made fantastical and, at times, thought provoking by blending ancient mythology into his contemporary mythology.Well done, Mr. Berger! I'm eager to begin the next book in your series!

An outstanding read
I have always been a fan of mythology, especially Greek mythology. This was a whole mother level. Many of the mythological characters and creatures were known to me, but many I had to look up. I enjoyed that very much. I am looking forward to starting #2.

Task Force: Gaea - Finding Balance - A new look at ancient ideas
If you are a fan of Greek mythology, fantasy stories, and writing that makes you think, you will enjoy Task Force: Gaea - Finding Balance.Task Force:Gaea takes the Greek mythology we all know and brings it into the modern world in an ingenious way. The story is well developed and flows beautifully as you skip around through time, watching the myriad of mortal and immortal characters develop. In this first of three books in the Task Force: Gaea universe, we see well written characters with whom the reader can truly identify as they learn about both their past and future lives. Four ordinary people are written in a way that makes you feel attached and invested in every decision they make, drawing you deeper into the mythology that defines the story, while also speaking on social concepts of the real world, such as environmental conservation and the increasing lack of privacy brought about my technology.I highly recommend this book to anyone with an open mind, as I believe you will find yourself drawn in and unable to put it down. Also, if you end up enjoying the story, make sure to check out Task Force: Gaea - Memory's Curse, the second book in the series.

Powerfully written mythological fantasy
I dearly love epic fantasy and this origin story is the very definition of epic. The author is incredibly well-versed in mythology and brings the interplay of the ancient world's gods into our own time in an elegant and exciting way. While the brunt of the work is on the origin story of each of the four heroes and ultimate formation of Task Force: Gaea, each story adds its own threads to the primary conflict; saving the world from disaster when the balance between Chaos and Order is lost. With its focus on Gaea, the book also conveys a message regarding the value of the environment, using the equilibrium shift toward Chaos and the disastrous effects on the world as a powerful representation of the dangers we pose to our own environment. Since it is one of my own passions, I may have taken the message farther than the author intended, but I found a strong correlation between sustainability and restoring the balance between Chaos and Order.Thoroughly researched, this is a perfect choice for mythology buffs, but also a great choice for any fan of epic adventure, fantasy, action, or history.

you with enjoy the pace
Greek myths and modern scenes, familiar gods and unfamiliar friends, action and plot, Mr. Berger blends multiple themes and ideas into a fast moving story that kept me turning (scrolling) the page. Starting off with familiar Greek gods, including Zeus and Apollo, we are thrust into a new myth. The gods have a crisis to be solved and need help from a team from our own time. With surprising ease, a multiverse of sorts is not only created, but plausibly constructed. Bridging the space in between is Apollo. He, as the godly embodiment of truth and prophecy, has the foresight to guide Task Force: Gaea to its destiny of helping the gods. Dan and the rest of the Task Force battle creatures from the depths of Tartarus while putting the pieces of their own pasts together. Whether you are a fan of Greek Mythology (like I am) or are not, you with enjoy the pace, style, and craftsmanship. David Berger’s Task Force: Gaea: Finding Balance does indeed find balance between old and new.

Reading a book for fun (in my workaholic world) is a rare indulgence
Reading a book for fun (in my workaholic world) is a rare indulgence. When I jump between the covers of a book, I want the story to drag me quickly into a fantastic escape with only three requirements: Entertain Me NOW, Teach Me Something NEW, and Make Me Want MORE. I want the story to tantalize and challenge me, force me to see things from a different perspective, make me feel wickedly excited, adventurous and terribly spoiled as I read it in the rare moments I get to stretch out on my couch with the book and defy Time. Mythology and Super-Heroes. Love, Faith and LIFE. Humanity countering Divinity and being there when Almighty needs us most in surprising ways. This is a hearty tale, a beautiful, hefty start in the richly-developed world David Berger has created. I can hardly wait for more!

A great book teens will also like!
In this new book just out on shelves, we are shown a world where everything in it is just a mirror image; a looking glass to another one. Whereas the other world once was ours, we have spun off course and are headed rapidly for disaster. When the god Zeus, after he defeated his father, went to talk with other gods to decide how to rule the world, he forgot to talk with one. And that is where our world comes from. If you like the Percy Jackson series than you will definitely love this book. It gives a whole new twist on the Olympian gods and the world that they live above and around. What will happen when a god falls in love with a mortal? Find out when you you read this book! Submitted by Marissa L, age 13

GREAT book for intelligent readers
I enjoyed the plot line of this book a great deal! Although it is not fast paced, the amount of detail was astounding. If you like Greek mythology, you will love this book. I have to admit I was a little uneducated and had to just go with the flow at times. What I did like was the incredible use of the English vocabulary. I am tired of reading books written at the 8th grade level and enjoyed the use of "big" words. I even added a few to my own vocabulary. Read this book and the sequel. You won't be disappointed.

Prepare to be transported to another time and place.
As a mythology buff, the subject matter drew me to the title but the writing style is what really draws one in. So detailed in description that several nights I would dream of living in ancient Greece.
