High Impact
Reads like a real life adventure, or rather series of adventures. Because of the time of writing and my lack of knowledge of India's history, some parts were difficult to follow. Excellent character portrayal. Deep. Psychological. Human. Emotional. A little too violent but in keeping with events.

Love the book
Love anything by Percival Christopher Wrenn. Read his classics Beau Geste, Beau Sabrier and Beau Ideal. This is a lovely old book by a quality author.

Remarkable!
Mixed and messed up story, told in disconnected flashbacks and time jumps, and direct and indirect reporting...would have benefitted from an eagle-eyed editor, with a sharp red pencil, but the actual story is fascinating, with many brilliant insights into the Raj in India, and its decline, and the selfish grubbiness of many of its representatives...the racial and religious prejudices and hatreds are clear, the individual honour and bravery of the heroes also...sorry to have to say this, but Kipling would have done it better, I think....interesting, informative, but too disjointed, too many points of view, and timelines...a valiant attempt!
