Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read - Levels 7&8 Complete: Early Fluent Readers (Second Grade | Ages 7-8) (4) (Learn to Read Complete Sets)

This program has provided a straight forward way to teach my son to read. He has had no challenges learning to read, and so this program has been enough. However, I'm a homeschooling parent who has had the experience of teaching a child with learning challenges how to read (NOT with this program and I would not recommend it). Because of this experience, I was able to fill in the many holes and lack of explanations this program has. For example, how do you teach the long vowel sounds and not say a word about the silent e? But, this program assumes you know to teach things like this. I would not recommend this program to parents who have zero experience teaching a kid to read as there is a greater chance the parent will not realize what's missing. Otherwise, this is useful for a kid who picks up reading quiet readily, even partially on their own.

It helped me a lot on teaching my 4.5 years son to start reading. Now he is on Learn to read level 5. And he is now almost 5. I also purchased level 6, 7 , & 8. And I will keep going teaching him until next year with hooked on phonics. Each level takes about 1 month to go through once.

At first my son just wasn't getting it. He would forget how to pronounce words. Now hes getting it and happy to read to me out loud.

I like this series. Some of the stories use humor to good effect, others strain to make those phonemes work together in one story. It is a little predictable in terms of structure and some of the selections are too long for a struggling reader to do in one sitting but I’m fairly pleased with the purchase.

We’ve been doing the hooked on phonics program for awhile now and you can definitely tell it’s helped my daughter. I have now started my 19 months old on the pre k level

My kids love it. The different activities are not too difficult. His confidence is growing.

I just received it today, but the book is broken. I am so disappointed.
