Lutti Arlequin Candies 250g Bag

Not overly sweet, but typical of most hard candies. The flavor is hard to describe, but tastes like a mild combination of several tropical fruits. The shape conforms to the shape of your palate, so it doesn’t irritate or cause sores, on the roof of your mouth. I fell in love with these candies, on a trip to France-our tour director kept a bowl of them on the bus, for her travelers. I don’t mind spending a little extra, to enjoy all the taste and memories that they bring me.

I got a bag of these from a gas station in France, during a quick bathroom stop, looking for some long lasting sweets. They are delicious! So much so that I was looking for them once back home. Found on Amazon! If you like sweet and sour hard candies, these are the best!

There is nothing I want to say more than that this is one of my favorite hard candies ever. The taste is super unique, not being overwhelmingly sweet nor too acidic, being the perfect balance of sweet and sour. The Harlequin motif is a perfect allegory for the taste experience (when not considering the more dark inspirations for the character and rather his appearance and behavior in the Commedia dell’Arte): his jocular nature in servitude and colorful looks translate to the saccharine taste while his wits and sometimes prankster behavior justifies the tangy acidic notes. It both pleases and attacks your tongue in a good way. If you like thinking of media characters and food tie-ins, imagine a candy based that fits Harley Quinn

I first purchased these when my husband and I were visiting family in France. The kid in the home had the lollipop version of this candy and gave me one. I figured that the lollipop was going to be too sweet because of the swirls of color. Boy was I wrong! I fell in love with this candy and always buy some when we are in Paris. That was seven years ago and I would always request some whenever my in-laws would come to visit. I tried getting them from here in the past but they weren't selling them. So glad I can get them now. They are a little more than twice the cost of what I pay when I buy them in France. Seems like they have fewer pieces than the bags that they sell in France. But in the end, I don't care because this candy is simply a delight!

I am French living in the US and this is definitely overpriced, but it tastes so good I had to go for it (3 times now).

More sweet than tart hard candy with a natural green apple flavor, mildly citric taste with mild apple aroma. I would not call it a sour candy. Enjoyable any time.

The candy is great, but I ordered two 250g bags and only got two 100g bags. That’s only 40% of what I ordered, but I can’t return it. I ordered it for my French class, and there aren’t even enough to give everyone a piece.

I first had the opportunity to taste these candies when I was in Paris, France. However, it took a really long time to receive the item once I purchased it through Amazon the first time.
