Maggie's Market: A heart-stopping saga of love, family and friendship

Good Story
I found this a bit depressing at first, maybe the circumstances in Dee's personal life didn't help. It soon took a turn for the better though and was quite an insight into the life of a market trader. When I go to a market anywhere I don't think what it must be like to stand out in all weathers to earn a living. It's different today of course when we have a lot of covered markets but these people had to scrape a living even in the worst weather. One penny bought a lot more then than it does now of course, but that was an old Imperial penny. You can't even have a p for a penny nowadays. I am still reading Dee's books so the disappointment at the beginning of this one didn't put me off. Keep writing Dee and I'll keep reading.

Good read
I love Dee's books and this one was no exception. I did find Maggie a sandwich short of a picnic and, unlike David who thought she was a wonderful mother, I thought she was an awful mother, she left them on their own during the day and then again at night to go to the pub!! The thing I found confusing was, when they found out Tony was dead they told his mum she couldn't get his insurance as he was buried under a different name and there would be no death certificate for him, but Maggie could marry David no Tony was dead!! to do that she would also need his death certificate unless she was a bigamist!
