Q: what is the best type feeder to feed this in?

A platform feeder, preferably on a pole. This food will attract woodpeckers, blue jays, chickadees, titmice doves, and sparrows. Squirrels love it, too, and I have finally won that war here by slathering my pole with a blend of shortening, scorpion pepper sauce, ground cayenne and red pepper flakes. The squirrels are now content to keep the ground beneath the feeder seed-free. 

Q: Is this okay for squirrels?

I'm sure it is, but it's a little on the pricey side for squirrels. My woodpeckers and nuthatch and chickadees love it. I accidentally left the feeder on the ground one day while I went in for some shelled peanuts to add and then I got distracted and when I finally got back out to attend to the feeder on the ground, the squirrels had pretty much emptied it. For the squirrels, I just toss out unsalted shelled peanuts which they gleefully bury all over the yard. Saves me the cost of aeration of the lawn, anyway, lol... but if you want to feed the squirrels pretty much anything a woodpecker will eat, they will, too. Even suet.

Q: I am a bit grossed out about the white worms this may come with. I guess I'd buy it i a brick and mortar first. Where would it be available?

I’ve never had a problem with that. I also buy blocks at a local hardware store.
