This remote quickly paired with a 2nd gen Chromecast (GoogleTV) and my older 1024P TV. Very Happy!
I was pleasantly surprised at how easily this remote paired with my 2nd gen chromecast (GoogleTV) and my older not very smart 1024P TV that is now very smart. TV Off/On volume along with streaming services and voice interface all with one remote working seamlessly.Incidentally, this is not a replacement remote control. It is a second remote control so both users have their own controller. I was concerned that only one controller would work but that was not the case. We can both control the TV and sometimes even step on each other's button pushing. But that's just fine it's what we hoped would happen.

Google remote review
We needed to replace our Google remote, as the old ones were made into a chew toy for our dogs. These arrived quickly and were exactly what we wanted.

Doesn't always work like it should
Pro's1. Easy to setup as instructions indicate.2. Easy to add / swap batteries as they are both in the same direction, less confusion.3. Easy to use and old for entire family.Con's1. Unable to update remote software in Chromecast software. It always says there is an update, it attempts to update, but never completes the update...2. About every two weeks it says the batteries are getting low. I've never had any device eat so many AAA Batteries in my life. I left the 3rd pair in and still works, but says batteries needs to be replaced.3. Will lose connection with Chromecast even with new batteries and remote NOT saying it needs a fresh pair to eat. I'll pull one out, put it back in and connects again.4. Remote has frozen a few times using voice search. I never had this issue with the previous remote or my Samsung TV remote controlling Chromecast.

Needed alkaline batteries and it worked
When I got this, I used regular batteries and tried at least 5x to pair the remote but it did not work. Tried another set of regular batteries and it still would not pair. Got annoyed and gave up. Before I returned it, I decided to try one more time with the alkaline batteries from the old remote and it worked like a charm. Still works as good as the old one so I’m happy with it. My only complaint is it doesn’t come with instructions and it should.

Buen producto.

Battery life is terrible, slow responding, firmware refuses to update
You can tell this is a third-party after market item when compared to the OEM remote, and that's fine. The poor battery life leaves me unhappy. It complains of low batteries after 4-6 weeks. The original Google remote lasted me well over a year without needing attention. This one also permanently says there's a software update (if you go into the menu-but the update will continuously fail-presumably because it was programmed with a dated version of software and because it's a clone and not original Google device, it won't update.). I can't say there's a better option out there, but I'll probably try a different one because of the battery life. Maybe there's a rechargeable USB+C option out there!
