Poor quality
The unit came very quickly and I was pleasantly surprised how convenient it was.I never had such can and I loved it.The lid is made out of plastic blades that will retract as soon as the sensor detects your hand or an object above it.Pros:- It looks fantastic in my kitchen, it is tall and can accommodate large plastic trash bags.Cons: - The blades are very poorly made and snap out very easily - It squeaks and rattles rather loudly every time it is being opened or when it closes - It stopped working after 6 months. The sensor doesn't detect anything anymore and pushing the buttons on the front will just make some noiseI changed the batteries and reset it but it didn't help.I tried to buy just the lid but I found it weird that a company that sells this item and many other iterations of the same product does not have the courtesy to sell parts for them too, make them available for the Canadians on Amazon.ca. The parts are available ONLY on their website and with all the US-CAD conversion, shipping and customs you are better off buying another garbage can.Ex: The lid costs 45.95 USD and the shipping is 28.98 USD (the cheapest)I cannot recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a reliable touchless trash can.

Lid completely useless....won't close
The product was a warehouse item described as having some cosmetic damage (the product label showed wear and tear. Unfortunately, the lid was damaged so it was obvious the item was never inspected as claimed. There were still remnants of garbage on the inside, from previous use. The lid is unable to close and the open feature works at random. It is a huge item, so very difficult to return.

Love it with my toddlers
This garbage can is better than I expected. when I first got it, I had a few concerns, it didn't look that big so I was concerned i was going to end up with half empty garbage bags. But that isn't the case, they fill up a good amount but leave room to tie the bag. Also, my husband was concerned that there was no safety when the door closed so he thought that our 2 toddlers were going to get there fingers pinched in the door all the time. But it actually works better than a normal garbage can because I shut the power off with the switch in the back without them noticing and it keeps them out of the garbage all together. I don't have to worry about them playing in the garbage can or throwing things out like I did with the standard can. Also of course I love the touches garbage can so I don't have to touch anything while cooking.

replacing the batteries on a garbage can is unpleasant, They shouldn't have used bad sensors for open/close. Don't buy.
if you are going to buy this, get the ac adapter, replacing the batteries on a garbage can is unpleasant. It needs to be kept clean, but it's not hard to clean it, just gross.Update: I bought this in September 2014, it's now its april 2017. The door now opens, but when it tries to close the door just jerks and won't move much more than 1/4" inch. I wanted to take it apart to see if I could fix it, the screws on the bottom are so rusted that it can't be opened without drilling out the screws. Two of the screw holes are very long and using a screw remover just won't work. I guess a dremel tool might allow me to drill through the screws.I went to the manufacturer website to see about buying a replacement top. They want 80 bucks US without customs, which is probably going to be 10 or 15 US. When I bought it, it was 116 with free shipping. I guess the CAD screwed me there on buying a replacement. Not very happy because I like the garbage can, maybe there are better solutions out there now, this doesn't seem to have much staying power.Update: Well it's totally unresponsive now. Will open and moves 1/8" when it closes. Don't buy this thing.

three Stars
Is a great addition to my kitchen. Only thing is that it is a little loud when in motion. Revise 2017. Still have my garbage can but the paint has peeled on the inside causing it to smell all the time. At least that's what i think the problem is. After scrubbing it an bleaching it, it still smells bad. So i thought I would just buy a new one and use this old one outdoors. Imagine my surprise when the price jumped from 59.92 in 2014 to 154.00 in 2017. Still the same garbage can, still doesn't come with the power cable. I understand inflation happens, but really that much of an increase. I can almost justify spending $60 on a garbage can but certainly not $150+. That is outrageous,
