Teddy Mars Book #1: Almost a World Record Breaker (Teddy Mars, 1)

Hilarious and Charming
My 9-year-old son and I both love this book. He read the entire thing in one siting, then picked it up a week later and read it again. He loves the Wimpy Kid and Big Nate books, and while there is a similarity in the humor and focus on the everyday life of a kid, Teddy Mars is pitched at a slightly younger reader, and has a gentleness and warmth that I appreciated. The story is engaging and charming, and really, really funny (from explosive vomit episodes and lots of pigeon poop to my favorite Halloween costume ever – a cat in a cat box). Teddy is a nice smart kid, and it’s great to read about his enthusiasms (art, Star Wars, pigeons) and adventures (living in a tent in the backyard). Any kid can also relate to his frustrations with his sisters and brother and parents, but it’s also fun to his imagine a life like his with a big, rollicking family. Plus hilarious illustrations and world records sprinkled throughout the story.Glad to see there are more Teddy adventures to come – we can’t wait!

Positive, fun book for elementary aged kids
This book has been entertaining for my 9 year old to read. One thing I like about this book as a parent is that it's interesting in a fun way (he has 7 kids in his family, so there's always interest there!) but it doesn't have the negative tone like many books for this age. The kids have respect for adults, aren't rude to each other and are generally good moral kids who are trying to do what's best while still having fun and learning. A tad like Junie B. Jones for older kids. I'd recommend this book over many popular titles. I'm glad we found it.

I love this book
I love this book! I started reading it a little at a time, because it made me laugh and I wanted to stretch it out and savor it. After a certain point though, I just had to keep reading.....could not put it down. I had to know what happened. I chuckled, and laughed out loud, and yes, I even cried a little (so sweet)! I want to buy one for every child I know. (yep, I'm a grown-up! doesn't matter! I love it!)

Great book for the whole family
A clever and engaging book! My 7 year old and 12 year old savored the 2 chapters a night we would read together. Lots of references to childhood memories and GBWR facts adults can relate to, making it a really fun book to read to and with the kids. My son can not wait for the movie (please author let there be a movie) and is patiently waiting the next book.

Best read at least in the past one year
I would recommend this to any ten year old, with or without any younger brother, as well as adults. Fun, hilarious and touchy at the same time. Finished it right away.
