Yes everything Festool is expensive but there are reasons. Try out an orbital sander sometime. 100% dust extraction and NO swirl marks or buy a cheap Home Depot one and take five times longer with a crummy job. These are not homeowner tools. **Q: The description says this is the domino set, but it doesn't mention the cross stop and trim stop. Are these included? Thanks.** A: If you purchase the domino set, those items are included: Combination set includes: Domino DF 500-Plus Joiner, DOMINO cutter D 5mm, Support Bracket, Operating Tool, Trim Stop, Cross Stop, Plug-It Power Cord, and T-LOC Systainer #2 storage container.To get the additional cutters, they come with the assorted domino tenons or you can buy them separately. I have used all sizes of the cutters so these are necessary for working with different thicknesses of wood. I do a lot of garden furniture so I have also ordered the mahogany tenons for a outdoor projects. This tool is expensive but it is a dream to work with. WL **Q: can the tool be used to cut angled mortises for shutters?** A: No. Not for shutters, which have angled mortises on the stiles. The cutter head always cuts parallel to the fence. That axis is fixed. **Q: I am new to woodworking and buying tools for the first time. Would you recommend this or the biscuit cutter since it is only $170?** A: It depends on what you are doing. I bought a biscuit cutter and used it to make panels when I first started. That evolved to using dowel pins and now I’m probably going to purchase the DF 500. The reason is I want to make chairs using mortise and tenon joint. If not for this I would stick with dowel pins. All I needed was a self centering drill jig and was in business. It takes more time but it’s better than biscuits and way less expensive than Festool. It’s definitely pricey but after using it I find it hard to believe I’ve lived most of my life without it. It’s made well, easy to use and makes joining boards a whole lot faster.
