What Is the Story of Scooby-Doo?

Interesting info - loved talking to my son about the good old days of broadcast television
So this book is a little different than than Scooby-Doo Beginner Mysteries. It's a nonfiction book on the history of Scooby Doo. So there are a lot of names (actors, producers, animators). Lots of technical terms (syndication, animation, broadcast, network, reruns, VCR), which required some explanation - but was also funny. My son is 6yo in the first grade and will turn 7yo this year. We used to read the Magic Treehouse books, but they were so boring I was worried my son would lose his love of reading. I bought this and he loved it. I did tell him when he was finished that I would reward him and his siblings with Scooby Snacks, which was a huge motivator. He read a chapter every night, even if it was 12 pages! If you are trying to get your kid to read chapter books, and you still need to trade off. Child reads a little, takes a break and you read, then I think you'll like this book. They have a page or two in every chapter that's boxed off to go into more detail. It's a great chance for kids to take a break, but to continue moving forward for that sense of accomplishment.I also enjoyed that he was challenged by some of the words and terms. I'm sure this is purely coincidental, but if he came across a tough word and sounded it out a bit wrong, I would help him. Then the hard word would come up again. I always appreciate that with kids' books when they give them another chance to read it again without help. There were also plenty of pictures. Including a picture of Scooby's family which was a lot of fun.If you're looking for a straight story book, this isn't it. Especially with the way technology changed, this book requires a lot more discussion about TV through the decades. We enjoyed talking about it, but I would understand it's not for everyone. We're moving onto the Scooby Doo Mysteries next to see if my son likes them too. I think he will. I know my nephew loves them.

The most simplest and quite accurate assessment of Scooby Doo you can find. Very good book
This book is very informative. It's a book that doesn't waste time with fluff since it's essentially a children's read. It's written simple and facts about Scooby Doo. It was very helpful iny research. Simplicity is key and this book nails it. I highly recommend this book even though it is a short read. Just don't pay a lot for this book. It's a really short book.

LOVED prereading this book. As a teacher, I like to read books to suggest them to my students. WHO does't LOVE Scooby Doo! I learned quite a bit about the character, and knew my students would love it as well! I did a quick book talk on it, and it was always checked out. Great book for 4th and up!
