Loved it, but then...
I purchased two Edyn Sensors and two Edyn Water Valves back in early May of 2017 and downloaded the Edyn app to run them. Everything worked beautifully for months - very, very pleased with the app and the devices, from initial setup (yes, BlinkUp worked perfectly!) to the information the app gave me, to look-and-feel, ease of use, and build quality. Couldn’t have been happier.I within a few weeks I felt confident enough in the product and app to expand the system to other areas of my property, but the Sensor and Water Valve seemed to have vanished from availability - basically, for the past 6 months, these devices simply haven't been available to buy direct from the Edyn website, with no indication of when (or if) they ever will be again. Very disappointing.(I understand how odd it may be to indicate they're not available while writing a review of a device that IS available [on Amazon] but I've been told by Edyn that Amazon is not an approved retailer of their products. Only Home Depot, Edyn and Gardener's Supply are approved retailers, *so the warranty may not be covered.)In addition, the app itself hasn’t been updated since I first downloaded it 6 months ago either. Granted, it may not ‘need’ to be, but it could do with some additional tweaks, such as more plant varieties in the database. Regardless, everything was smooth and reliable until about the first week in November, when the database was telling me that “the next watering is scheduled for”…a date in the past. For example, on November 7th it told me the next watering was scheduled for November 6th. And it got stuck in that mode with no way around it. Plus, it stated that many waterings prior had either failed, or the devices were disconnected from the network. Frustrated, I deleted the app, downloaded anew, and created a new account from scratch. I then ran into the same issue that a few others wrote about below - the error message of “BlinkUp took too long, please try again.” (Oddly enough, at one point I just quit the app and restarted it later, and for some reason my sensor did show up, despite the error message.) But the experience leaves me not trusting it.Due to this constant error, no update of the app in many months, and the seeming unavailability of the Sensors or Water Valves for purchase [see *caveat above,] I’m moving on to timers for my watering - which is a major disappointment. When the system worked, it worked beautifully.

Company closed down
App stoppped connecting to their cloud last year.. no response from support. They've closed down so all you're buying is a useless brick. I suspect they're staying quiet to sell off remaining stock. This company is a perfect example of the issues with smart devices locked to their servers.

Learn from my mistake, don't waste your time!
Even though the product reviews were hit or miss I was still very hopeful that this product would work. However, either the unit I received was DOA or the Edyn Wi-Fi Garden Sensor is fundamentally flawed. Based on the other amazon reviews and reviews from other sites I would say it's the latter.I wasted A LOT of time trying to get it to work, and but I simply wouldn't complete the synchronization process. I'm not one to give up easily, so I read through every single one of the posts on their support forums and on other sites, and I actually tried every single work around and troubleshooting step they mentioned.I finally gave up after hours and hours of frustration and wasted time, contacting their customer support and not hearing back after a week, and trying over 40 times in vain to get the product to work. The complete lack of support for this product speaks volumes about the product and the company. Although their site is still up I have serious doubts if the company is still in business.Details of my issue: I was able to get the Edyn Wi-Fi Garden Sensor to join the WIFI network and I could even see it in my router's DHCP clients, and see it transmitting date; however, the synchronization errored out every time on the step 3 of the process. Each time it would get to step 3 "Almost done. Preparing your account." and a few seconds later the app would show an error message of "BlinkUp took too long, please try again."

Great Concept, Unusable Data
*Full disclosure - I tested on a unit purchased used through Amazon. It looked in perfect condition, but it may have been damaged somehow before I started using it*This is a great product concept. Collect the vital, fluctuating information necessary to keep plants healthy, then make it available through a network and without the need for batteries. It's easy to set up, easy to see data, and the app helps you interpret the data simply and clearly. Perfect. If only it were accurate. After two weeks of putting it in different positions in different soils, trying different probe depths, watching it react to different weather, it's clear that the data this thing puts out is garbage. Some examples:*After 10 minutes of irrigating already-damp, sandy soil, followed immediately by 3 hours of light rain, the probe showed soil moisture at 12% ("a little dry").*During the rain showers humidity registered at around 70%.*Putting it into juicy mud for several hours got soil moisture to 16%. ("just right").Edyn's FAQ tells you how to clean the probe tip and make sure the probe is making good contact with soil. Didn't work for the one unit I tried.Still, the product concept is so good, if they come out with a version 2 I'll definitely give it a try.

Had high hopes - good product overall
Company is dead, no support at all, product won't connect or pair with their cloud service rendering it useless. The product itself is probably one of the best all-in-one garden sensors that's been created however so it's very unfortunate that the company died.

Edyn - OUT OF BUSINESS
Edyn company is dead, they went out of business, company website is down, domain is about to expire, APPS are dead, Facebook page is outdated, IFTTT is non functional, I was initially communicating with someone there about jailbreaking the sensor and water valve but got run around and then totally ignored, the person also tried to say that after jailbreaking that when there system came back online, I'd be out of luck, understandable but again the company is done anyway. DO NOT BUY Edyn sensors or water valves as they are currently "bricks" as they won't even allow customers to jailbreak them.
