Q: Each of them comes with instructions?

On the back is a little picture instruction for each one that is a bit hard to follow, but yes, there are instructions. You're better off looking them up online because the ones it comes with is a bit confusing.

Q: On the average, how large are the individual puzzles, and what age group?

The puzzle pieces are relatively small, perhaps each one has a length of 1 - 2". They are large enough to work with and a challenge, even for adults. They are the same size as I remember them as a child (60 years ago!) They are fun to try to solve. I hope this answers your question. Brian

Q: Would these be allowed on an airplane?

Considering that nail files are now allowed (duh) and these are very small, my guess is Yes. However, if they are not, they will be confiscated. Best to check with your airline.
