Quality through and through
Fire pits are all the rage now, but if you have ever sat around one, you know what it must be like to be smoked meat! after that experience, we decided on a chiminea. My wife did the research and landed on this Blue Rooster product. It was expensive, but appeared to be very well-designed and well-made from a decent company, plus it was offered in cast aluminum, meaning rust-proof (compared to cast iron), light and easy to move, yet substantial, and virtually unbreakable (compared to the ceramic versions). It came packaged really well and in near perfect condition. It was easy to assemble with good instructions. We also bought a Blue Rooster cover for ours, and it is super well-made, compared to grill covers I’ve used over the years. The chiminea came with touchxup paint for the scuff marks here and there on the stove-black coating. Took me about 5 minutes to touch those up, then we let that dry and fired it up today. See attached picture. It really burns hot and draws hard through the chimney, meaning much more efficient combustion and almost no smoke once you get it going. Plus the chimney top is high enough (about 5' or 1.6m) that the little smoke there is goes up and over the heads of people around the chiminea. The dragonfly design is very attractive and fits well in a garden setting. Very happy with this purchase and impressed by the Blue Rooster company. Worth every penny!

A Great chiminea is worth paying extra money for
I have gone through numerous clay chimineas over the years. Finally, I decided to look into a good quality fireplace, since I use it probably two or three times each week. After investigating the good, bad, and the ugly of what is out there, I decided to purchase a cast aluminum fireplace. Blue Rooster is the front runner of manufacturers. Purchasing through Amazon was obviously easy. . . The unit arrived earlier than expected. It was well packed, and in complete order. Be warned. . . It is heavy! (80 pounds). So, get it close to where you intend to keep it, when you begin to put it together. Kudos to my UPS guy for getting it up to my porch! Assembly was very easy and accomplished in less than 30 minutes. The unit is beautiful to look at, and looks like the quality unit that is is. It keeps a great warm fire going very well. Even though my local area pushes the use of Duraflame logs, I suggest using real wood for the best results, and the wonderful real woodfire smell. The fire also burns hotter with real wood. I am very happy with this chiminea and would recommend.

Nice addition to our patio
Easy to put together, easy to start a fire in it, and easy to keep the fire going. It replaces a cheap chiminea that was open all around the belly and wasn't getting the updraft needed to work really well. We like this model as it is well made, sturdy and attractive. The Dragonfly design gets noticed by visitors. The chiminea was easy to assemble, considering it is cast aluminum and all hardware was present so I didn't have to hunt for missing bolts or nuts. There are a few things I don't like about this chiminea, reflected in the 4 star rating rather than 5 stars:1) There were a lot of chips and dings in the paint when we opened and put the chiminea together. While The Blue Rooster does provide a small bottle of touch up paint, the dings are still noticeable; not the best look for an item that cost over $400, in my opinion.2) The spark cover/door of the chiminea is attached by a hinge secured to the body of the chiminea with two bolts & nuts. Despite tightening these down securely, the hinged door has a LOT of play up and down and I need to lift the door about 2.5 inches to secure the latch when closing the door.3) The chimney screen and the grate rusts very easy. Even though I keep the chimney cover in place when we're not using it, both are still very rusted. While the grate is heavy cast iron and the rust shouldn't bother it too much, the rust still bothers me.

Not a bad fire pit although the paint on it is extremely toxic and does not hold up. here is a picture after 1 fire.Highly unsatisfied with this. Took hours to burn off the toxic paint smell. Could not even be by the fire pit. Half the paint has fallen off. Also the latch does not have the holes in the right place to bolt up properly. Only able to use one bolt to hold it in place. I think it will be fine but the high quality described on the add is not what we have. It will serve the purpose but for $429 i would expect more.

ABSOLUTELY the Best! Update
First there is much to love about this chiminea. 1) it arrived earlier than expected- have to love that.2) Very impressed with the sturdiness. It was easy to assemble. The only “watch-out” is the nuts, flat washer and lock washers for the leg bolts were placed on the bolts in the wrong order. As arranged, the lock washer was placed in the position to make contact with the chiminea versus the flat washer. Easy enough to correct before installing legs.3) The door hinge appears loose. But is designed to give play so that the handle can be lifted and placed on the hook connecting to the chiminea body.4) Though not worth deducting a star, the unit could be improved with a slide or lift-out tray for clearing ashes. Ashes have to be scooped out. This is hindered by the leg bolts that protrude through the bottom and into the area below the grates. The burning area is too small to burn full size logs. However, this is a chiminea and not a fireplace. I do have to be careful of the size of wood select. For logs longer than 16” I angle them up almost like a “Teepee.”I added the base from a fire bowl that lasted one season before rusting out. The base adds another 5” bringing the total height to 57 inches. In closing I love my purchase, use it every day.Added another photo showing a homemade heat deflector made of radiant materials and plywood. The deflector redirects the heat forward making it quite warm 6-7 feet away.UPDATE: My first review was 5 Stars based on quality and cost. As you can see by the pictures posted I don’t just burn wood, I create inferno’s. My point is 4 years later the chimenia is going strong. The Customer Service team is extraordinary. I will certainly recommend Blue Rooster to anyone in the market for a professional grade chimenia.
